McCartney Has Compared Swift’s Fame To Beatlemania
In an interview with BBC Sounds shared to Instagram on May 24, McCartney reflected on the scale of Swift’s success and how it reminded him of The Beatles’ own peak.
“You do see the parallel, you know the fame and the amount of fame,” the 84-year-old said. “The worldwide fame that Taylor Swift has and that we had, but I don't think she needs any advice to tell you the truth.”
Still, he said he would offer guidance if Swift ever wanted it.
“If she asked for it, I definitely would,” he added. “I'm like the older brother to that generation, or more like the grandad, actually.”
Swift has publicly shown the admiration goes both ways. After McCartney released his latest album, she reshared his June 2 Instagram post and described him as an “eternally exceptional artist,” adding that she is “never not inspired” by him.
Stevie Nicks Also Performed For The Crowd
McCartney was not the only music legend involved in the celebration. Stevie Nicks also performed at the wedding, which reportedly gathered 1,000 of the couple’s closest family and friends. A thousand guests is, of course, a very private evening if the building is large enough.
Robin Roberts, who attended the event, confirmed Nicks’ appearance on Good Morning America the morning after the ceremony.
“We can confirm that yes, Stevie Nicks did perform,” Roberts said, though she did not share which song Nicks sang. “But it really was intimate.”
Her Good Morning America co-host George Stephanopoulos, who was also invited, described the setup as surprisingly personal despite the size and spectacle.
“It was as intimate as it possibly could be given it was Madison Square Garden,” he said. “It was really this garden inside the Garden, which was so beautiful. It's hard to imagine a place that big, and a wedding with such stars, could feel so personal and so intimate.”
