Corrections policy

Mistakes happen. When they do, The Hook corrects them quickly, transparently, and in a way that preserves the reader’s ability to see what changed. This page explains how we do that.

Corrections, updates, and retractions

A correction fixes a factual error in a published piece (a wrong name, number, date, or quote). An update adds new information to a developing story without the original piece having been wrong. A retraction withdraws a story entirely when its core claim is shown to be unsupported. We label each category distinctly so readers can tell the difference.

How to report an error

If you spot something wrong, send the article URL and a short description of the error to the editorial team at thehookshow@bravebison.com.

How corrections appear on articles

When we make a substantive correction, we add a note to the article describing what changed and when, and we update the article’s modified timestamp. For material errors, the original wording is struck through rather than silently rewritten, so readers can see both the error and the fix.

Retractions

If a story’s core claim turns out to be unsupported and cannot be salvaged with a correction, we retract it. The URL remains live and serves a retraction notice explaining the issue and, where applicable, linking to follow-up coverage.

Privacy settings

Waiting for the consent manager. Ads have not started.

Google Analytics is off until the consent manager permits it.

Ezoic manages advertising choices through its consent manager. Rejecting cookies may still allow contextual ads. Google Analytics starts only when the consent manager reports consent for storing information on your device and measuring content performance, or that GDPR does not apply; it never runs with Global Privacy Control. Separate readership measurement and third-party embeds remain off. Browser notifications have a separate subscription control.

You can also disable all Ezoic ads in this browser. This reloads the page to stop the ad code; it does not delete information previously collected. Disabling ads does not change Google Analytics, which follows the consent manager. Withdrawing consent after Google Analytics has started stops it and reloads the page; it does not delete information already collected.
