Charles Barkley says he was invited to Taylor Swift's wedding to Travis Kelce, but chose not to attend. Not because of any feud, secret slight, or elaborate celebrity seating-chart drama. According to Barkley, the whole thing simply sounded like too much, and he would rather be playing golf.
Why Charles Barkley passed on the invitation
Barkley discussed the invitation Tuesday during an appearance on “Unfiltered with Ricky Bo and Bill Colarulo.” The subject came up after Bill Colarulo noted that Barkley’s name had not appeared in reports about the guests at the wedding.
The former NBA star said he did receive an invitation, but politely declined. His reasoning was fairly direct: he does not go to weddings or funerals, and he expected this particular wedding to be a “crap show.” Given the guest list and the venue, this was not exactly a small backyard situation with folding chairs and a quiet cake table.
Barkley made clear the decision was not personal. He said he loves Travis Kelce and Travis’ brother, Jason Kelce, and added that he has only met Taylor Swift once.
Barkley says formal events are not his thing
Barkley said his priorities these days are much simpler. He wants to play golf and avoid dressing up for formal events, which is either a life philosophy or a very efficient retirement plan.
