The reported Taylor Swift MSG wedding is already in a financial category best described as “please do not ask what the flowers cost.” Now the security side is coming into focus too, with police staffing for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s planned Madison Square Garden events expected to run past $160,000, according to high-ranking New York Police Department sources cited in the report.
The figure covers NYPD personnel assigned to two events at the arena: a Thursday rehearsal and the Friday wedding. The guest list may be celebrity-coded, but the staffing math is pure city bureaucracy.
How many NYPD staff are expected at Madison Square Garden?
According to the report, more than 70 detectives from precincts across New York City are set to work the rehearsal and wedding at Madison Square Garden. Those detectives are expected to take 8.5-hour shifts, earning between $80 and $90 an hour.
At the low end, that detective staffing alone comes to about $95,200.
The plan also calls for more than 50 police officers to be assigned to the venue. Those officers are described as mostly rookies, earning $70 an hour for nine-hour shifts. That portion adds roughly $63,000.
