CelebrityKathy Hilton Says an AI Celebrity Jell-O Diet Scam Left Her Bloated

Kathy Hilton brought a very modern cautionary tale to the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reunion: not every celebrity diet ad online is what it claims to be, especially when artificial intelligence is doing the selling.

During the Bravo show’s season 15 reunion, Hilton said she had “a little problem” after trying what she believed was a celebrity-backed Jell-O diet. According to Hilton, the online promotion falsely suggested the plan was connected to Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama and Kelly Clarkson.

“I went on the Jell-O diet,” Hilton told her castmates. “There's a new Jell-O diet that Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama, Kelly Clarkson [did], with vinegar and baking soda.”

Hilton, 67, said the diet seemed convincing at first because she lost two pounds on the first day. The shine wore off quickly.

“It has messed up my whole entire system,” she said. “I was so bloated I could not fit into anything.”

She later concluded the promotion was not legitimate. “They were lying to me,” Hilton said. “It was all AI.”

Oprah’s Team Has Already Pushed Back

Oprah Winfrey has publicly distanced herself from the debunked diet claims. In a statement shared with Today on May 1, her team warned viewers to be careful about online ads using her name or likeness.

“To help viewers with discernment, unless something is posted on her personal IG page @oprah, it is not something she is involved in,” the statement said, “and consumers should please take extra caution before providing their personal information or purchasing any such products.”

That distinction matters. AI-generated ads and celebrity deepfakes have become a reliable nuisance online, using famous faces to push products that the stars never endorsed. The technology may be new, but the sales pitch is very old.

What Oprah Has Actually Said About Weight Management

While Winfrey has rejected any link to the Jell-O diet scam, she has spoken openly about using GLP-1 medication, a class of prescription drugs used to help manage blood sugar and weight.

“I now use it as I feel I need it, as a tool to manage not yo-yoing,” Winfrey told People in December 2023. “The fact that there's a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift, and not something to hide behind and once again be ridiculed for.”

She added, “I'm absolutely done with the shaming from other people and particularly myself.”

Hilton shared the story in front of fellow RHOBH cast members Kyle Richards, Dorit Kemsley, Erika Jayne, Sutton Stracke and Bozoma Saint John. The reality star is also mother to Paris Hilton, 45, Nicky Hilton, 42, Barron Hilton, 36, and Conrad Hilton, 32.

For viewers, the takeaway is blunt: if a diet ad claims several major celebrities are quietly mixing Jell-O with vinegar and baking soda, it may be worth pausing before the shopping cart stage.
