They had already endured a private loss. According to reports from Us Weekly and E! News, Barker’s documentary Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear reveals that Kardashian suffered a miscarriage in 2021, when she was three months pregnant with a girl they planned to name Tulip.
“When we lost the baby, we were devastated. We cried for days,” Kardashian says in the film, according to Us Weekly.
The couple later went through five unsuccessful attempts at in vitro fertilization before conceiving their son, Rocky Barker, naturally. Rocky, now 2, was born in 2023.
Neither Barker nor Kardashian has said that these experiences directly created their rule about resolving arguments. Still, the practice sits within a relationship repeatedly tested by events rather more serious than lunch logistics. The small disagreements matter because staying connected has not always been a small matter for either of them.
How Kardashian helped Barker fly again
Barker survived a plane crash in South Carolina in September 2008 that killed four of the six people aboard. He suffered third-degree burns across 65 percent of his body and spent roughly three months in hospital.
The crash left him deeply afraid of flying. Barker did not board another plane until August 2021, when he travelled to Cabo San Lucas with Kardashian. He later credited her with helping him reach that point.
“My wife gave me so much hope to where I ended up flying again,” he told E! News in June. “It’s just insane. The power of love is amazing.”
Barker has also described his children as central to his recovery. “My kids were my strength from the time they existed,” he said.
While recovering in a burn centre after the crash, Barker became sober. He told People that he would not offer advice to his younger self because “I wouldn’t have listened,” a blunt assessment that avoids turning survival into a tidy motivational exercise.
Documentary directors Cully Bunker and Toby Dwyer said Kardashian’s arrival in Barker’s life helped him finally find “peace.” His return to the air then supplied an ending for a film project that had followed him for years.
The documentary turns survival into a family story
Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear began streaming on Hulu and Disney+ on Aug. 13. The Associated Press reported that the documentary follows Barker from 2017 through 2026, covering his music, injuries, trauma and family life.
The film ends with Barker boarding a plane, followed by images of Kardashian and their children. That final sequence shifts the story away from the crash itself and towards what came after it. The flight is not presented as a miraculous erasure of fear. It is evidence that Barker eventually moved through it, with considerable help.
His relationship with Kardashian gives the documentary the conclusion it previously lacked. What began as an extended account of survival becomes a film about recovery, marriage and a family large enough to require careful scheduling.
Barker is the father of Landon Barker, 22, and Alabama Barker, 20, with former wife Shanna Moakler. He is also stepfather to Moakler’s daughter, Atiana de la Hoya, 27.
Kardashian shares Mason Disick, 16, Penelope Disick, 14, and Reign Disick, 11, with former partner Scott Disick. Together, Barker and Kardashian have Rocky.
How the couple blended their families
Barker and Kardashian knew each other for years before becoming a couple, which meant their children already had a shared history. Kardashian discussed that familiarity during a 2022 episode of The Kardashians.
“Travis is so passionate about life,” she said. “He is a really amazing father. I love that because we have all known each other for 10 years and all of the kids have had so many memories with each other. It just feels so good to continue to have the best time together.”
That blended family now appears throughout Barker’s public account of recovery. His children supported him after the crash, Kardashian encouraged him to fly again, and their marriage became part of the documentary’s final chapter.
Against that background, refusing to end the day angry is less a polished piece of relationship advice than routine maintenance. Barker’s example was deliberately mundane: someone missed a text, plans became unclear, and an apology restored the connection.
There is no claim that one sentence before bedtime solves every marital problem. Barker and Kardashian simply try not to let a manageable grievance harden overnight. After years involving physical trauma, pregnancy loss and fertility treatment, they appear unwilling to give minor resentments more room than necessary.
