Paris told Cooper that she eventually came downstairs at Katherine’s home and discovered Rowe waiting in the living room.
“I remember coming downstairs, and she was in the living room with my grandma,” she said. “I came in and I was just like, ‘Hey, mom.’ And she was like, ‘Hi.’ I sat down, we talked for a second, and then we went out for the day and just like hung out.”
Rowe had not publicly responded to the new interview by August 13.
Why do earlier accounts give a different timeline?
The podcast version does not align perfectly with Paris’s previous comments. In a 2017 interview with Rolling Stone, she said Michael told her at about age 10 that her mother’s name was Debbie. She also said she connected with Rowe when she was 13, not 15.
Reporting from 2013 further complicates the chronology. Rowe testified in a Los Angeles court that she and Paris began seeing each other in late March that year. Paris turned 15 on April 3. Rowe said they spoke and texted frequently, while Paris stayed with her on some weekends. TMZ also reported several meetings between them around that period.
Those accounts could reflect different ideas of when their relationship truly began. Paris may regard the living-room encounter as their first meaningful meeting, or she may simply remember her age differently more than a decade later. What can be said with confidence is that mother and daughter established regular contact during Paris’s teenage years.
Jackson said she deliberately entered the relationship without demanding a particular outcome.
“If I walk into a relationship with expectations, I’m probably going to end up being maybe disappointed or frustrated or irritated or a resentment will be born,” she told Cooper. Without those expectations, she said, there was room for “something organic to just blossom.”
She also credited their compatibility to astrology: Rowe is a Sagittarius and Paris is an Aries, meaning both have “the fire.” The court records remain silent on the legal significance of this.
How did their relationship develop?
Paris and Rowe became closer after reconnecting. When Rowe was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016, Paris supported her through treatment and was described as a “rock” for her mother.

The new interview adds another version of her reunion with Rowe rather than settling the timeline. Memory is allowed to be untidy, although dates from court testimony have the inconvenient habit of remaining dated.
Did Paris Jackson receive an inheritance?
Claims that Paris received no money from her father’s estate are contradicted by estate filings and court reporting. The distinction is between inheriting direct control of Michael Jackson’s trust and receiving substantial allowances or benefits while executors continue managing it.
Us Weekly reported that Paris received $3.27 million in estate allowances during 2021. An estate filing reported by The Independent said she had received roughly $65 million in benefits overall.
That does not mean she approves of the estate’s management. Paris has challenged decisions made by the executors and, in July 2026, sought repayment of nearly $3 million. The probate dispute therefore concerns control, spending and administration, not an absence of financial support.
The estate has also benefited from the commercial performance of Michael, the biographical film about the singer. After 10 weekends, it had reportedly earned $977.4 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing biopic at that point.
So the family finances are considerably more complicated than “no inheritance,” much as the Rowe reunion is more complicated than a single age. In both cases, the neat version is easier to repeat. It is simply not the whole record.
