Pierre Deny dies at 69 after complications related to ALS, his family has confirmed, closing a decades-long French screen career that recently introduced him to a wider international audience through Netflix’s Emily in Paris.
The actor’s daughters announced his death in a statement to the French news agency AFP, reported through Le Parisien, on Wednesday. Deny died on Monday.
“It is with deep emotion that we announce the passing of Pierre Deny, which occurred this Monday following a sudden and severe case of ALS,” they said.

Deny appeared in Seasons 3 and 4 of Emily in Paris as Louis de Léon, the chief executive of the luxury fashion company JVMA. The character was also the father of Nicolas de Léon, played by Paul Forman, whose romance with Mindy Chen, played by Ashley Park, became one of the show’s central relationship threads.
