KJ Dillard Says He Was Hospitalized After Self-Harm

KJ Dillard revealed during the Summer House Season 10 reunion that he was hospitalized after self-harm and later diagnosed with borderline personality disorder.

Speaking to host Andy Cohen during part one of the Bravo reunion on Tuesday, Dillard said, “I actually had to go to the hospital for self-harm.”

The 28-year-old reality star said he spent a week in the hospital. He also credited castmates Mia Calabrese and Ciara Miller with showing up during that period.

“I was there for a week. Mia and Ciara were there almost every day,” he said.

Dillard got emotional as he talked about the months that followed, framing it as a turning point instead of a tidy TV storyline.

“I got to focus on myself. I needed that,” he said, adding that he is now in therapy and taking medication.

What He Said About His BPD Diagnosis

Dillard said he was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, often shortened to BPD. According to the Mayo Clinic, BPD can affect how people see themselves and others and make day-to-day life difficult.

Dillard connected the diagnosis to a longer pattern in his life.

“My whole life, I distracted myself and ran away from my issues instead of facing them head-on,” he said.

The Hit the Floor musician said he is grateful to be alive and acknowledged support from the cast around him.

“I’m grateful that I’m here alive because I could have not been. I’m thankful for the support of my friends. Like everyone here has somehow shown their support in their own way. So, I appreciate that,” he said.

He also said the response from viewers has mattered because he does not want to hide what he is experiencing.

“I’m very thankful that the audience is embracing that, because it’s my truth. I’m not gonna not be honest about what I’m going through, especially if it can help others,” Dillard said.

Castmates Responded During The Reunion

The moment appeared to hit several people on the reunion set.

Jesse Solomon, 33, tried to hold back tears as he praised Dillard for sharing what he called a “moving story.”

“I feel for you,” Solomon said as Dillard hugged him.

Solomon added, “I’m glad you’re good, because I don’t want anyone to go through that. I’m happy he’s feeling better.”

Carl Radke also offered support, saying Dillard will “keep doing great stuff.”

When The Reunion Continues

Part two of the Summer House reunion is scheduled to premiere on June 2 on Bravo.
