The two have shared the occasional affectionate glimpse over the years, but when it comes to the specifics of their marriage, they have stayed notably careful.
That restraint has made even a playful one-liner feel unusually revealing, at least by their standards.
Why the marriage mention drew attention
The couple’s private approach has been especially visible since stylist Law Roach confirmed in March that Holland and Zendaya had tied the knot.
Since then, both have made only limited public references to the marriage. Holland addressed the subject last month in an Esquire interview while discussing AI-generated images of him and Zendaya that had been circulating online after Roach’s confirmation.
He said he did not need to clarify to friends and family whether the pictures were real.
“Because they were all there,” he said.
That was about as much as he was willing to offer. When asked for more detail about the wedding, Holland closed the door neatly: “That’s all you’ll get on that.”
Zendaya has explained the privacy line
Zendaya has also spoken about trying to manage public interest without giving away parts of her life she wants to keep for herself.
“I’m aware that I’m a public person and so is he,” she said during an April appearance on the New York Times’ Modern Love podcast. “I’m also aware that we’ve grown up in front of people and have done movies where we fall in love with each other.”
She made clear that she does not want to dismiss why fans are curious about their relationship. Still, she said privacy remains important.
“I am a very private person and I try my best to be able to have things for myself and for him as well,” Zendaya said.
That pretty much sums up the line they’ve held: they recognize the attention without giving away the whole story. Holland’s latest comment did not reveal wedding details, dates or behind-the-scenes sentiment. Still, if mythology tries to enter the chat, he has a short answer ready.
