Most recently, Swift released the 2024 track “thanK you aIMee,” widely read as a diss track aimed at Kardashian. The capitalization was not subtle, because apparently subtlety had the night off.
Still, the moment with Jenner was warm in the available video. Social media users reacted quickly, with one writing, “Peace in the universe confirmed. … Knicks really uniting the timelines today.” Another described it as “the crossover we didn’t know we needed.”
Kardashian was not seen at the game, according to Page Six. Jenner, however, has been a regular at Madison Square Garden this season with boyfriend Timothée Chalamet, who is known as a committed Knicks fan.
How Kim Kardashian fits into the story
Kardashian’s name hovered over the encounter because of her years-long dispute with Swift, not because she was physically present. That distinction matters, even in a story where a hug is being treated like a diplomatic summit.
The feud began publicly in 2016, during the fallout around Kanye West’s song “Famous” and the later release of edited phone-call footage involving Swift. The dispute became one of the most dissected celebrity conflicts of the decade.
There has been some softening in public comments, at least on Kardashian’s side. During a January episode of the “Khloé in Wonderland” podcast, Kardashian called Swift a “super talented great artist.” That is not a friendship bracelet, but it is also not nothing.
Swift has not publicly reframed the dispute in the same way, and Page Six did not report any direct interaction between Swift and Kardashian at Wednesday’s game.
Who else was sitting courtside?
Swift attended the game with Alana Haim and Este Haim, two members of the band Haim. She wore jeans and a “Stevie Knicks” T-shirt, a nod to Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks, because if one is going to attend a Knicks game, a pun was apparently available.
She also styled her hair in a fishtail braid with blue ribbons and wore a matching manicure.
Swift sat next to Mariska Hargitay, the “Law & Order: SVU” actor whose character, Olivia Benson, inspired the name of Swift’s cat. The Knicks defeated the Spurs 107-106.
Page Six also reported that Swift had a potential awkward run-in at the game with Scooter Braun and his girlfriend, Sydney Sweeney. Braun, of course, is another figure with a long and very public history in Swift’s career story.
The celebrity-heavy crowd also included Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler, Jerry Seinfeld and others. A basketball game did take place, technically.
