The second post came from women’s sports influencer Jackie Johnston. In her video, Johnston argued that Sweeney’s lack of clothing was the “least concerning” element of the campaign. Stoermer described the clip as “so so interesting” and added a raised-eyebrow emoji, subtle by normal standards but practically a press conference in Instagram Story terms.
Why is NOVIG facing questions?
Johnston’s criticism focused on NOVIG and the wider prediction-market industry. The platform allows users to trade sports-related outcomes and has been compared with services such as Kalshi and Polymarket.
Prediction markets can resemble conventional betting while operating under a different legal structure. Critics have warned they could provide a route around state restrictions in places where sports gambling remains illegal. Johnston also raised concerns about the potential for corruption if these services continue expanding.
Sweeney responded to the broader backlash by sharing images of prominent sports figures who had previously posed nude. That addressed the debate over whether athletes and celebrities should appear naked in campaigns, but it did not directly answer concerns about the product being advertised.
British sprinter Amy Hunt was among the female athletes who criticised the advert. Speaking after a race at the Ultimate Championship in Budapest, she said: “Sydney Sweeney, this is what women in sport look like.”
The dispute has therefore split into two related arguments: whether the campaign reduces women to their appearance, and whether a celebrity should be promoting a prediction market already attracting regulatory and ethical scrutiny.
What has Sydney Sweeney said about Zendaya feud rumours?
Stoermer’s posts have inevitably renewed claims that Sweeney and Zendaya do not get along behind the scenes. Those rumours date back to a late 2025 report from the Daily Mail, which alleged that political and personal differences had left the co-stars unwilling to “stand in the same room”.
Zendaya has never publicly addressed the report, and its claims have not been independently substantiated. Sweeney rejected the wider narrative during an interview with Vanity Fair.
“Well, I mean, we all grew up together on this show, so it’s honestly crazy to watch how much social media and the press spin things,” she said.
Sweeney also denied suggestions that tensions or her schedule had delayed production of Euphoria season three. She explained that the HBO series held “first position” in her contract, giving it priority over her other projects.
“The moment they say, ‘Hey, this is the first day of filming,’ I’m legally not allowed to do anything else,” she said. “So my schedule doesn’t affect the show.”
She added that the same contractual arrangement applied to the main cast, meaning none of their outside work could take precedence over filming. For now, Stoermer’s reposts show that she disliked the NOVIG campaign. They do not, by themselves, establish a feud between its star and her daughter.
