A Perez Hilton hospital update from his family has offered a cautious sign of hope: the celebrity blogger is now able to communicate while receiving medical care after an apparent self-harm incident.
“This has been incredibly difficult and emotional for us, made even harder because very little information has been made available to our family,” the family said. “While we continue to wait for further updates, we remain hopeful.”
They added: “We have also been able to confirm that Perez can communicate, which has given our family hope.”
Hilton, 48, was taken to a local hospital after a distressing TikTok livestream appeared to show him harming himself. Concerned viewers contacted emergency services and directed them to his home. His precise condition has not been publicly confirmed.
What authorities said about the emergency response
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said it received multiple calls about a person livestreaming acts of self-harm on social media. Deputies located the residence, spoke with family members at the scene and established that Hilton was alone inside.
According to the sheriff’s office, officers responding to mental health crises generally focus on de-escalation by creating time and distance while opening opportunities for communication.
“Unless there is an immediate threat to others, slowing the situation and utilising crisis intervention techniques can reduce the likelihood of injury to the individual, deputies and the public,” the department said.
Its crisis response unit and licensed mental health professionals were also sent to the property. Authorities said they provided support to Hilton’s family before he was “safely recovered” and transported for medical attention.
After the livestream ended, graphic clips that appeared to show Hilton injured began circulating online. Reposting such material adds little beyond distress, despite social media’s frequent determination to prove otherwise.
Chris Booker puts their podcast on hold
Chris Booker, Hilton’s friend and longtime podcast co-host, said on Wednesday that he was “profoundly sad” for Hilton and his family.
“It’s truly unimaginable,” Booker said, explaining that he had spoken only briefly with the family and wanted to respect the wishes expressed by Hilton’s team.
Booker said even close relatives had struggled to receive updates because of confidentiality and security measures at the hospital, particularly amid widespread attempts to obtain information. He said any confirmed developments would be released through Hilton’s official website.
Hilton and Booker have co-hosted The Perez Hilton Podcast with Chris Booker since 2015. For now, the future of both the iHeart podcast and its Patreon shows remains undecided.
“As for the shows, it’s all TBD at the moment as our collective focus is on his health,” Booker said. “I certainly hope to continue them with my friend when the time is appropriate.”
He thanked listeners for supporting the pair for more than a decade and said Hilton is “very loved,” adding that he hoped his friend could feel that support. He ended his statement simply: “Heal up friend.”
Hilton faced serious health problems earlier this year
The hospitalization follows a difficult period for Hilton, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira Jr. In March 2026, he revealed that he had been hospitalized with severe sepsis while in Las Vegas.
Hilton became prominent in the 2000s through his celebrity gossip site, PerezHilton.com. He has remained a recognizable online personality for more than 20 years, later expanding into podcasting and social media.
For his family and friends, however, the immediate concern is not his public career or the status of a weekly show. It is his recovery and the limited but meaningful news that he can communicate.
