Perez Hilton was hospitalized after authorities responded to reports of apparent self-harm during a TikTok livestream on August 4. The celebrity blogger and podcaster, 48, was taken from his Miami home to a local hospital, where officials said he was receiving medical attention.
His current condition and treatment have not been disclosed. Neither Hilton nor his family has made a public statement, and his representatives have not provided a further update.
What authorities said about the response
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said it received multiple calls about a person livestreaming acts of self-harm. Deputies traced the broadcast to a home in Miami-Dade County’s Westchester neighborhood, according to NBC 6 South Florida.
“Deputies quickly located the individual’s residence, where they spoke with family members on scene, and confirmed he was alone inside,” the sheriff’s office said on August 5.
Authorities later made contact with the person and brought him out safely. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue then transported him to a hospital. The Daily Beast separately obtained confirmation of the hospitalization from the sheriff’s office.
Officials did not identify Hilton by name in their statements, referring only to “the individual.” News organizations identified him through the livestream, neighbors and comments from his management team.
The sheriff’s Crisis Response Unit and licensed mental health professionals also went to the scene to support his family. A spokesperson told El País that deputies responding to mental health emergencies emphasize de-escalation by creating “time, distance and opportunities for communication.”
What appeared in the TikTok livestream
NBC News reported that the now-unavailable video appeared to show Hilton covered in blood and holding what looked like a knife. El País said the livestream continued for more than 30 minutes before ending, after which Hilton’s TikTok account disappeared.
It remains unclear whether TikTok ended the broadcast, suspended the account or took another action. No confirmed explanation from the platform was included in the available reporting.
The length of the broadcast raises questions about how quickly social platforms can detect and interrupt graphic livestreams while directing viewers or the person broadcasting toward emergency help. In this case, multiple viewers contacted law enforcement, prompting the response.
Dante Rusciolelli and Rebekah Kochan, co-chief executives of Golden Artists Entertainment, initially said they knew about the “concerning content circulating online” but had been unable to contact Hilton directly.
“Our primary concern is Perez’s health and well being, as well as the well being of his family,” they said, adding that they would not speculate without confirmed information. They also requested privacy.
Hilton recently faced severe medical emergencies
The incident follows a difficult period for Hilton, whose legal name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr. Earlier in 2026, the father of three spent 21 days in a Las Vegas hospital after an ulcer perforated and caused severe sepsis.
Soon after leaving the hospital, he developed intense pain and soreness in one leg. By the next morning, he said he could not walk without a walker. His surgeon sent him for an ultrasound, which revealed a deep-vein thrombosis.
Hilton said the clot was discovered before it could travel to his lungs or heart. Further reporting described it as fully occluded and extending from his groin through much of his calf. He underwent a thrombectomy to remove it and later said the procedure had gone well.
On April 12, Hilton reported that he could walk, dress himself and live without pain again, although he acknowledged that his recovery was not complete.
Those medical events provide context for the strain he has faced this year, but no doctor, relative or representative has connected them to the August 4 crisis. Drawing that conclusion without evidence would turn a serious health situation into guesswork, which is not especially useful to Hilton or anyone else.
No further update has been released
As of August 5, Hilton remained hospitalized, with no public information about his diagnosis, treatment or expected recovery. The sheriff’s account has been independently corroborated, and no credible reporting has disputed the basic sequence of events.
The limited information leaves the central concern unchanged: Hilton is receiving medical care, while crisis professionals are supporting his family. His three children and other relatives have remained out of the public discussion, and his management team has asked that their privacy be respected.
