When Nicolas Cage arrives in Black Ops 7 and Warzone

The actor will be added to both Black Ops 7 and Warzone on Thursday, June 25, as Activision rolls out Season 4 Reloaded. His arrival is being framed as part of Call of Duty’s “Summer of Action,” a fitting enough label for someone associated with films like Face/Off, The Rock, and Con Air.

The standard Nick Cage Operator skin keeps things fairly straightforward: a black T-shirt paired with a bulletproof vest. It is less red-carpet premiere, more “please clear the room before asking follow-up questions.”

There is also an “Unlimited” variant, which leans into a more retro action-movie look. That version gives Cage longer hair and a leather jacket, making the crossover feel less like a random celebrity cameo and more like a tribute to one of his many screen eras.

How players can unlock the Nick Cage Operator

Players will need the Nick Cage Event Pass, which launches with the Season 4 Reloaded update on June 25.

The Operator is included on the Premium Reward Track, so unlocking him requires purchasing the pass. Buying it grants access to the base Operator, while progressing through the pass unlocks the “Unlimited” Nick Cage Operator skin.

Players can also unlock the AN-94 Assault Rifle through the Free Track. In other words, there is at least one major reward that does not require payment, which is always a pleasant surprise in a live-service economy.

Why this crossover is arriving at an interesting time

Call of Duty has not exactly had a quiet relationship with crossover content. In recent years, the series has drawn criticism from players who felt some collaborations pushed too far outside the game’s military-action identity.

The Beavis and Butt-Head bundle appeared to be a particular breaking point for some fans. After that backlash, developers backed away from what they called “big brand” collaborations and signaled a preference for crossovers they believe fit more naturally within Call of Duty.

Nicolas Cage is still a celebrity addition, of course. But compared with cartoon characters or superhero imports, an actor famous for decades of action roles is easier to place inside the game’s tone. It is still absurd, just not quite as aggressively absurd.

How Call of Duty is handling future collabs

That shift also carries into October’s Modern Warfare 4. Infinity Ward has committed to a more restrained approach, stating there will be “No Lady Gaga. No Omni-Man. No Teletubbies. No SpongeBob.”

The message is not subtle, but subtlety was probably not the goal. The studio appears to be drawing a clearer line around what belongs in the franchise and what turns a match into a licensing aisle.

For players, Cage’s arrival may become a test of that new boundary. He is famous enough to be a spectacle, but connected enough to action cinema that the pitch makes sense. Call of Duty is still chasing pop-culture moments, just with a slightly firmer hand on the steering wheel.
