Liam Neeson and Stella Stocker arrived hand in hand at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 12, posing together outside Roy Thomson Hall before the world premiere of Courteney Cox’s Evil Genius. The photographs quickly inspired romance speculation, because apparently two actors cannot cross a carpet together without becoming a developing relationship.

Neither Neeson nor Stocker has publicly described their relationship as romantic. In the days since the premiere, no reliable report has established that they are dating.

What happened at the Evil Genius premiere?

Neeson, 74, and Stocker smiled for photographers as they attended the Saturday screening. At one point, she held his arm before the pair stopped to pose.

Stocker wore a black cowl-neck dress with her hair pinned up. Reports differed slightly on Neeson’s clothes, describing either a black T-shirt and blazer or a black sweater and leather jacket. The photographs settle the important part: he wore a dark, casual outfit with jeans and brown shoes. International diplomacy may continue.

Anadolu photographs identified both actors at Roy Thomson Hall, while other coverage also reported that they arrived holding hands. Those images confirm a warm public appearance, not a change in relationship status.

The event itself was the 94-minute world premiere of Evil Genius, Cox’s second feature as a director. Patricia Arquette and David Harbour star in the film, which dramatizes the bizarre 2003 crime commonly known as the “pizza bomber” case.

Why did they attend a film they are not in?

Neither Neeson nor Stocker appears in Evil Genius, and their connection to Cox or the production has not been publicly explained. They may simply have attended as guests, which is something people at film festivals occasionally do without issuing a detailed administrative report.

Cox told TheWrap that the underlying crime was “so insane” that she wanted to understand who had designed such an implausibly complicated heist. The case previously inspired a Netflix documentary series and remains known for its unusual chain of events surrounding the death of pizza delivery driver Brian Wells.

The unexplained joint appearance attracted more attention because Neeson and Stocker already have a substantial professional connection. Their next film, The Mongoose, is scheduled to open through Samuel Goldwyn Films on October 30.

In the action thriller, Neeson plays a wrongly accused war hero pursued during a cross-country chase. Stocker plays Helene. The two actors also appeared in Martin Campbell’s Memory and Neil Jordan’s crime thriller Marlowe, both released in 2022.

Who is Stella Stocker?

Stocker is a London-based British-German actor and voice artist. According to her official biography, she grew up across Germany, France and Congo and works bilingually.

Her résumé includes smaller roles in major productions as well as voice work, though much of the coverage surrounding the TIFF photographs reduced that career to a simpler label: woman holding Liam Neeson’s hand. Red carpets are efficient that way.

Her repeated work with Neeson provides a clearer explanation for their familiarity than unsupported dating claims. They have now collaborated on at least three films, including the forthcoming The Mongoose.

No public statement from either actor has clarified whether their appearance was connected to that film’s promotion, a private friendship or another professional relationship. What is known is that they attended together, appeared comfortable in front of photographers and did not announce a romance.

What has Neeson said about dating?

Neeson’s romantic life drew similar attention during the promotion of the 2025 comedy reboot The Naked Gun, in which he starred opposite Pamela Anderson. Their affectionate interviews and easy chemistry prompted months of speculation.

While discussing Anderson in 2024, Neeson told People, “I’m madly in love with her. She’s just terrific to work with.” He also jokingly introduced her as the “future Mrs. Neeson” during a dinner.

Anderson later told the magazine that they had been romantically involved briefly after filming and had spent an “intimate week” at his home in upstate New York. Other reporting questioned whether the flirtation had been staged to promote the film. A Page Six source offered yet another version, saying there was “instant chemistry” but that it never became an intimate relationship.

Before that publicity cycle, Neeson gave a considerably less dramatic answer when People asked him about dating in October 2024: “No, in a word. I’m past all that.”

He was married to actor Natasha Richardson from 1994 until her death in 2009. Neeson later dated public relations executive Freya St. Johnston for two years but has not publicly confirmed another long-term relationship.

For now, the Stocker photographs show two longtime colleagues holding hands at a premiere. Anything beyond that remains speculation, however enthusiastically it has been packaged.
