Sir David Beckham’s billionaire status is now official, at least according to the latest Sunday Times Rich List, which estimates that he and Victoria Beckham are worth £1.185billion. That makes the former England captain the richest sportsman in the United Kingdom and, on paper, richer than King Charles III, whose personal wealth is estimated at £680million.
It is a striking jump for a family brand that has spent decades turning fame into business. Apparently, even a very public family rift does not stop the machinery from running.
How did the Beckhams reach £1.185billion?
The biggest factor behind the rise is Sir David’s 26% stake in Inter Miami FC, the Major League Soccer club whose profile has surged in recent years. His property interests around the club’s stadium have also added to the family’s growing fortune.
Victoria’s businesses have contributed too. Her fashion label and beauty ventures have risen in value over the past year, adding more weight to a portfolio already built on endorsement deals, licensing, property and entertainment projects.
The couple’s Netflix work has also helped. David’s multi-part documentary became a major success for the streamer, and Victoria has since fronted her own series offering a closer look at her work and family life. David was originally said to have signed a £16million deal with Netflix, while Victoria’s documentary was later reported to be worth £20million after the success of Beckham.
