Bill Skarsgård joins Physint with plenty of enthusiasm, even if there is still very little anyone can say about what the game actually is. The actor has released a short video praising creator Hideo Kojima and confirming his lead role in the espionage project.

The message follows a busy month for the title, billed as a possible spiritual successor to Metal Gear Solid. After an awkward split that moved the formerly Sony-backed project to rival platform Xbox, Kojima Productions presented an update during Tokyo Game Show 2026.

What did Bill Skarsgård say about Hideo Kojima?

Skarsgård’s casting was announced during the Xbox showcase at Tokyo Game Show. A video dated September 18 was then promoted by Hideo Kojima’s English-language social media account on September 19.

“I will be appearing in Physint, a brand-new, original video game created and developed by the great Hideo Kojima,” Skarsgård said, with the polished spontaneity one might expect from an official promotional message.

He added that he had followed Kojima’s work since childhood and was excited to collaborate with him.

“I’m a huge fan of Hideo’s and I have been ever since I was a child, so I’m very excited to embark on this creative journey together with him,” he said. “He is a true pioneer and an auteur in the video game field, and someone who really blends cinema and video game, so I’m very excited about this.”

That blend of film and gaming is central to the project’s pitch, although Kojima Productions has yet to reveal meaningful details about its story, mechanics or release plans. Mystery remains part of the marketing strategy, as usual.

Who else is starring in Physint?

Skarsgård is best known for playing Pennywise in the recent film adaptations of Stephen King’s It. His connection to Kojima Productions was suspected well before the official announcement, as he was photographed visiting the studio more than a year ago.

The actor was born in 1990, the same year Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake was released. Based on his age, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty may have been his first experience with a new entry in the series when it arrived in 2001. That would make his childhood fandom entirely plausible, even if the promotional script did not require supporting documentation.

He leads a cast that also includes:

  • Charlee Fraser
  • Ma Dong-seok
  • Minami Hamabe

Beyond the cast and its espionage framing, confirmed information remains scarce. The official tagline, “The Next Cold War Begins,” points toward geopolitical intrigue, covert operations and probably several conversations in which nobody explains everything at once.

For now, Skarsgård’s message mainly confirms that the lead actor is pleased to be there. Details about how the game plays, when it will arrive and what Kojima means by combining cinema with video games will have to wait.
