Amerie said the marriage was over in April 2024
In her divorce petition, Amerie listed the couple’s date of marriage as June 25, 2011. She said they had been separated since April 2024 and described the marriage as “irretrievably broken.”
Amerie also stated that she and Nicholson share one son.
She first publicly disclosed the split during an interview in June 2025, after more than a decade of marriage.
Nicholson made business and financial claims
Nicholson, whose full first name is listed in the judgment as Lenvert, said in his response that he had worked for Amerie for more than 20 years in several roles, including manager, tour producer, performance director, and business strategist.
He claimed he had not been fully compensated for work performed during the marriage. His filing said he was owed a share of revenue connected to Amerie’s music royalties, merchandise, and book publishing.
Nicholson also alleged that Amerie left the marital home in April 2024 while he was recovering from surgery. He claimed he was forced to cover $44,000 in rent for her, along with other expenses.
His filing further alleged that Amerie spent $20,000 on cosmetic surgery and took luxury trips to Mexico and Jamaica. He also claimed she restarted her music career after leaving him and used his 18-week marketing plan without giving him credit.
Nicholson asked the court for $1.75 million in unpaid commissions, $150,000 in damages tied to alleged verbal attacks and emotional distress, spousal support, and additional relief.

The judgment lists Amerie’s estimated monthly income at $5,735 and Nicholson’s at $10,000.
The court’s final orders used those figures to settle support and custody issues, including the $2,298 monthly child support order. The case also says Amerie kept control of her music-related businesses and Nicholson must return materials tied to her work.
