Alex Cooper Pregnant With First Baby

CelebrityAlex Cooper Pregnant With First Baby

Alex Cooper is pregnant, and the Call Her Daddy host chose a characteristically simple way to say it: a few photos, a visible baby bump, and the caption, “Our family.”

Cooper announced on Instagram on May 17 that she and her husband, film producer Matt Kaplan, are expecting their first child together. The post showed the couple in a soft, pared-down photo shoot, which is about as close as celebrity pregnancy announcements get to understated these days.

How Alex Cooper Shared The Pregnancy News

In the Instagram carousel, Kaplan sits in a chair with his back to the camera while Cooper sits on the arm of the chair beside him. She wears flowing white pants with a matching crop top, placing one hand on her stomach as she smiles.

Kaplan, meanwhile, rests a hand on her thigh in one of the photos. The setup is intimate without trying too hard, which is no small achievement in the modern announcement economy.

The baby will be Cooper and Kaplan’s first child together. For Cooper, 31, the news also follows several public reflections on family, health, and the kind of partner she found in Kaplan, 42.

Their Relationship Started With A Zoom Call

Cooper and Kaplan’s relationship began in 2020 over Zoom. At first, she kept his identity private, referring to him only as “Mr. Sexy Zoom Man” while discussing her dating life publicly.

That nickname stayed in circulation until the couple got engaged in 2023, when Cooper finally confirmed that the mystery man was Kaplan, a Hollywood producer known for projects including young adult films and television.

One year later, they married in a low-key beachside ceremony in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Cooper told Vogue at the time that the wedding matched what they had hoped for.

“It was everything we wanted it to be,” she said. “It was emotional, heartfelt, and we tailored it to exactly how we always envisioned it.”

Matt Kaplan Took The Lead On Their Wedding

Cooper also said Kaplan handled most of the wedding planning, leaving her to focus mainly on her custom Danielle Frankel dress.

“I was quite stress free,” she told Vogue. “I give Matt so much credit because he truly took on the heavy lifting, and it was perfect.”

That detail landed because Cooper has often built her public persona around control, confession, and blunt honesty. Letting someone else manage the big day suggested a different kind of trust, less podcast mic, more actual partnership.

Their wedding was not the only time Cooper has described Kaplan as a steady presence in her life.

Cooper Previously Opened Up About Health Fears

In an August 2024 episode of Call Her Daddy, Cooper spoke about having contracted HPV from a sexual encounter four years earlier and how that experience affected her emotionally as her relationship with Kaplan became more serious.

“At this point, Matt and I were starting to get serious and we were dating, and for the first time, it just sucked, because I could really envision a future with a man,” she said. “I think I was scared to vocalize one of my biggest fears, which was the possibility that this mistake I made years ago was going to impact my fertility. Matt was the first person I had dated that had me realize I even wanted to have kids.”

Cooper said she knew she needed to be direct with him.

“I knew I was going to have to be honest about it,” she added. “And I told him everything. And he couldn’t have been more loving and understanding and supportive.”

Six months after receiving treatment for the virus, Cooper said she tested HPV negative.

She also recalled talking with Kaplan about what might happen if that had not been the outcome.

“I’d had conversations with Matt like, ‘What if I still have it?’” Cooper said. “And I will say, you know you have the right partner ladies, when they don’t give a f--k. And they are just there to support you and love you and it doesn’t matter.”

Why The Announcement Carries Extra Weight

Cooper’s pregnancy announcement is not just another celebrity baby post, though it is certainly formatted like one. For listeners who have followed her from private nicknames to public engagement, then marriage and frank conversations about fertility fears, the news marks a personal milestone she has been unusually candid about wanting.

Her career has been built on turning intimate subjects into public conversation, sometimes loudly, often bluntly. This update is quieter, but it still fits the larger story she has shared with her audience: finding a partner she trusts, imagining a family, and now preparing to welcome a first child together.
