Beyond that, details remain limited. The family has not announced where Astro died, whether he had experienced any health problems or whether authorities are investigating. Reports offering more certainty would currently be getting ahead of the available facts, a habit the internet rarely needs encouragement to adopt.
Raz B and Mona had welcomed Astro in May. On May 18, while the family was at the hospital preparing for his arrival, the singer shared a photograph with his pregnant wife, their older child Versai Carter Thornton and Mona’s daughter from a previous relationship.
“I always wanted to take a real family picture with my own family… and finally, God made a way,” he wrote. He called watching Mona become a mother again “one of the greatest blessings I could ever witness.”
How did the family announce Astro’s arrival?
The couple announced Astro’s birth the following week through Versai’s official Instagram account. A video posted May 23 described it as the “best week ever” and celebrated Versai becoming a big brother.
“We welcomed my new baby brother Astro into the family, and it already feels amazing being a big brother,” the caption read.
Some later reports identified Versai as a daughter, but the family’s own wording and reporting from E! and AllHipHop identify Versai as the couple’s son. Versai was born in October 2024. Mona also has an older daughter from an earlier relationship.
Astro appeared again in family photographs and footage shared by Mona for Father’s Day on June 22. Her tribute thanked Raz B for his “love, commitment and generosity” and called him the family’s “safest place” and “forever hero.”
Those posts now form much of the public record of Astro’s short life. The parents have otherwise asked to grieve privately.
Will Raz B join B2K’s December tour dates?
Astro’s death comes during a renewed period of activity for B2K, the R&B group Raz B founded with Omarion, J-Boog and Lil’ Fizz.
The group reunited for the 2026 Boys 4 Life Tour and released “Mileage” on July 17, its first new music in more than two decades. BRAVOnet reported that the single debuted at No. 38 on Billboard’s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart.
TMZ reported that B2K’s tour remains scheduled to continue in December. However, the outlet said it was unclear whether Raz B would participate following his son’s death. Neither the singer nor the group had publicly clarified his plans by September 11.
For now, the dates remain on the calendar, but that answers only the administrative question. Raz B’s involvement is unresolved, and the family’s request for privacy leaves no useful basis for speculation.
