The Netflix Fortitude lawsuit presents an unusual problem for an unreleased movie: nobody has found it online, yet its producers say the possibility of a leak has already destroyed its value. Swiss producer Simon Afram and his company, Op-Fortitude Ltd., are seeking at least $105 million after an unencrypted copy of the Nicolas Cage thriller was stolen from a Netflix office in Los Angeles.

Netflix denies responsibility and says its piracy team has found no evidence that the film has been distributed. As of August 1, 2026, there was also no reported recovery of the missing drives or public court response from the company.

What happened to the copy of Fortitude?

A producer delivered the film to Netflix’s Sunset Bronson Studios office for an internal screening in June 2026. Most reports place the delivery on June 15, while CBS News reported June 16.
