Pro-Palestinian protesters entered the Washington hotel where Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was dining during his high-profile visit to the US capital.
Footage published on July 29, 2026, showed demonstrators inside the lobby of the Four Seasons Hotel in Georgetown, chanting against the Israeli leader and attempting to move closer to the restaurant where he was reportedly having dinner.
“Bibi, Bibi, you can’t hide! You’re committing genocide!” the activists shouted as hotel staff and security personnel blocked their path. Videos circulating from the scene appeared to show members of the group being escorted out before they could reach the dining area.
The incident brought the demonstrations unusually close to Netanyahu. Rather than remaining behind police barriers or along the route of his motorcade, some protesters managed to take their message inside one of Washington’s most prominent luxury hotels.
Protests Followed Netanyahu Across Washington
The hotel confrontation was part of a wider series of protests surrounding Netanyahu’s visit. Demonstrators had also gathered near the White House and Blair House, where visiting foreign leaders traditionally stay, waving Palestinian flags and displaying signs condemning US political and military support for Israel.
Other protesters confronted Netanyahu’s motorcade and called for US authorities to arrest him under the warrant issued by the International Criminal Court. The ICC issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu in November 2024 over allegations of war crimes and crimes against humanity connected to the conflict in Gaza.
The warrant represents allegations rather than a criminal conviction. The United States is not a member of the ICC’s founding Rome Statute and has rejected the court’s jurisdiction over Israeli officials, making an arrest during Netanyahu’s Washington visit highly unlikely.
Why Netanyahu Was in Washington
Netanyahu travelled to the US capital for talks with President Donald Trump at the White House. His itinerary also included events commemorating the late Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, who had been one of Israel’s most vocal supporters in Congress.
The visit unfolded amid continued international criticism of Israel’s military operations and growing pressure on both the Israeli and US governments over their policies in the Middle East. The protests therefore focused not only on Netanyahu himself, but also on Washington’s broader strategic relationship with Israel.
The reports and footage available at the time of publication did not identify any arrests or injuries resulting from the hotel demonstration. It also remained unclear whether Netanyahu’s dinner was interrupted or whether his schedule was altered after the protesters were removed.
