When someone vanishes, reappears in custody, and leaves his wife to explain it all on television and podcasts, the questions tend to multiply. The Lee Andrews Dubai arrest has now shifted from a missing-person scare into a messy set of claims involving alleged spying, a civil matter, a reported fine, a travel ban, and a marriage to Katie Price that was already operating under fairly unusual conditions.
Katie, 48, had feared the worst after her fourth husband disappeared on May 13, the day after he was supposed to fly to the UK for a joint appearance on Good Morning Britain. She ended up doing the interview alone after being let down at the last minute.
In the days that followed, the story moved through several versions: Lee was missing, then allegedly kidnapped, then said to be hiding in a rundown villa, and finally reported to have been arrested. For most couples, that would be a busy year. Here, it was a fortnight.
What has Lee Andrews actually been detained over?
Katie said on May 28 that she had finally spoken to Lee after days of uncertainty. According to her, he told her he was being held at Al Awir jail in Dubai.
Lee, described in reports as an entrepreneur, is said to have spent three months in the same central prison last year over suspected fraud, after allegedly forging an ex-girlfriend’s signature to take out a £200,000 mortgage in her name.
Katie said Lee’s father helped put them in contact this week. During a two-minute phone call, Lee allegedly told her he was being held on suspicion of espionage.
She said: “I have found him. He is alive, and he is OK. I told him how worried I had been and told him I loved him.
“It was very rushed, but he said the authorities out there thought he was a spy.”
That version has since been disputed. Authorities later told The Sun that Lee was not detained over spying allegations, but in connection with a private civil matter. He was reportedly due for release on the following Monday, provided he paid a four-figure fine.
The confusion is not helped by Katie previously rejecting his father’s claim that Lee had been arrested. In an Instagram Story, she wrote: “This is fake newes Lee is still missing and his family know whats going on and working with the authorities involved [sic].”
So the main question is still unanswered: was Lee ever facing an espionage allegation, or was the case always something far less cinematic?
Can he leave Dubai if he pays the fine?
Lee and Katie married five months ago after a 48-hour engagement during the week they met. Since then, Katie has travelled to see him in the United Arab Emirates several times. Lee, however, has not made the return journey to the UK.
In February, reports claimed Lee’s 2025 jail stint had resulted in a travel ban that stopped him leaving the country. Both he and Katie repeatedly denied this at the time, insisting he would be flying to England to meet her family and children.
That visit never happened.
Katie later confirmed on her podcast that Lee did have a travel ban, saying “you can get a travel ban for absolutely anything.” Before his disappearance, Lee was still presenting himself as if he was on his way to the UK. He filmed himself at the airport, while Katie later said “visa issues” had prevented him from travelling.
If the reported fine is paid and he is released, the obvious question is simple enough: does he still have a travel ban, and if so, can it be lifted? A marriage can survive distance, but airport content without actual flights is not a long-term plan.
Why did Katie say he claimed he was kidnapped?
The timeline’s most disturbing moment came when Katie described their final FaceTime call shortly after Lee had supposedly been at the airport.
She said Lee called her from an old van with mesh windows. According to Katie, “his hands were tied” and he had a “hood over his head.” He allegedly told her people were “coming back” for him and that he was being taken to a “black site.”
Katie said she contacted authorities in Dubai, where Lee has lived for 21 years. In the days after his disappearance, she said they told her there was no trace of him, including in the prison system.
She updated followers through videos and podcasts during what she described as a “really distressing” period. Her messages were not being delivered to him, and neither were messages from his family.
Then came another twist. The Sun reported that Lee had been hiding out and using a burner phone to speak with a small number of trusted contacts.
That leaves a fairly large gap between the alleged kidnapping call and the later detention claim. Was there an abduction before any arrest, or did Lee go somewhere else and allow Katie to believe he was in danger?
How did the FaceTime call happen?
There is also a basic logistical problem with the alleged kidnapping account.
If Lee’s hands were tied, how did he manage to place a FaceTime call to Katie? And if he was in immediate danger, why call his wife in the UK rather than emergency services or someone physically nearby in Dubai?
These are not minor details. They are the kind of details that separate a terrifying account from one that needs much more explanation.
Katie clearly believed she had reason to fear for his life. She said she was scared he might be dead, which gives the episode its emotional weight beyond the noise around the relationship. But if Lee’s version of events does not hold together, the person left carrying the fear was Katie.
Whatever happened in that van, if there was a van, Lee is the only person currently positioned to explain the call, the timing, and why the story moved from airport delay to alleged abduction to jail.
What happens to their marriage if he cannot visit the UK?
Long-distance relationships are common enough. They usually involve both people being able to see each other without one partner repeatedly crossing borders while the other remains fixed in place.
Katie has travelled back and forth to the UAE since January. In early May, she returned to the UK for family responsibilities and work. Around that time, she effectively told Lee that if he wanted to see her, he needed to come to England.
According to the public timeline, Lee continued to act as though that would happen, until it did not. Explanations ranged from visa problems to business issues.

Who was using Lee’s phone during the silence?
Lee’s apparent phone activity has raised more questions.
While he was supposedly missing or detained, his Instagram account appeared active. Most notably, it followed an American woman named Mari Sol, a US Navy veteran with a private profile. Her bio described her as a “travel and adventure seeker,” “special event planner,” and “HD biker babe.”
Reports claimed she had used an online matchmaking service for millionaires. A friend said Katie was “furious” that Lee appeared to have connected with another woman while not responding to her.
Within about a day, Lee’s Instagram was back to following just one person: Katie. Mari Sol reportedly blocked him after learning his identity.
Katie later told podcast listeners she had raised the social media activity during her brief call with Lee. She said: “He hasn’t been on his phone. He hasn’t had his phone. He’s been interrogated. They’ve gone through his phone, and they’ve been mucking about.”
Referring to Mari Sol, Katie added: “What happened with that other woman was apparently she activated her account, and maybe she followed Lee, or Lee followed her years ago. They’ve never exchanged messages.
“I did try to say to him in that minute, ‘Apparently you’ve followed another woman.’ He’s like, ‘What?’ I said, ‘Don’t worry. Just know one thing: you’re the most hated man in Britain’.”
If Lee did not have his phone, someone else may have accessed it. If he did have it, the explanation becomes more awkward. Either way, the account activity needs more than a shrug.
What does he say about Alana Percival’s claims?
Personal trainer Alana Percival has been speaking publicly about Lee since his marriage to Katie. Her claims are serious, detailed, and unflattering.
Alana said Lee proposed to her in a strikingly similar way only months before proposing to Katie, including rose petals. She has also claimed there were other parallels, including Lee allegedly pretending to be boarding a flight to the UK before producing excuses.
In December 2025, she said he told her he was in England and sent a video of himself ice skating, though his face was covered with a disposable mask. Alana accused him of “fabricating” the trip and said Lee’s own family reportedly “hasn’t seen him in six years.”
She has called him a “swindler” and a “narcissist” and publicly urged Katie to “run for the hills.” Alana also accused him of “love bombing” her after they first connected on Facebook last March, claiming he gave her cash, Louis Vuitton bags, and Cartier jewellery.
She has said other women have contacted her alleging that Lee scammed them out of money. She also claimed Lee told her in messages that he was terminally ill.
Speaking to The Sun earlier this year, Alana said: “I just worry for [Katie’s] welfare.
“I worry he’ll maybe end up getting her arrested or a flight ban. He obviously has no remorse toward anyone.”
