The New York Post reported that JPMorgan Chase confirmed Baez was fired after the bank reviewed video posted online. The footage appeared to show her during last Thursday’s parade in New York City, where fans gathered to celebrate the Knicks’ NBA Championship win over the San Antonio Spurs.
The Knicks defeated the Spurs 4-1 in the Finals, which explains the crowd, the jerseys, and the general civic overexcitement. It does not, as workplace conduct policies tend to note in smaller print, usually explain walking off with public trash infrastructure.
What the parade video appeared to show
Videos uploaded to X showed Baez wearing Knicks gear near a sidewalk trash bin. In the clips, she appeared to dump the contents of the receptacle onto the sidewalk, then carry the bin away as pedestrians looked on.
The incident reportedly moved quickly from parade oddity to employment matter after the footage circulated online. JPMorgan Chase told the New York Post it had reviewed the material before terminating her.
