CelebrityIShowSpeed to Perform World Cup Song

IShowSpeed is taking his football fixation all the way to the biggest stage in the sport. The streamer has confirmed he will perform his viral World Cup song, “World Cup (Champions),” during the closing ceremony before the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final.

FIFA had already named him as part of the ceremony lineup, which also includes Robbie Williams, Laura Pausini, and Nicole Scherzinger. Tom Cruise is set for a special appearance, while Jennifer Hudson will sing the United States national anthem before kickoff. Subtle little pre-match program, then.

How “World Cup (Champions)” became part of FIFA’s plans

IShowSpeed, whose real name is Darren Watkins Jr., released “World Cup (Champions)” shortly before the expanded 2026 tournament began. The track works partly because it is exactly as direct as it sounds: Speed names all 48 countries that qualified for the World Cup.

It first arrived as an unofficial anthem, but the reaction was fast enough that FIFA brought the song into the tournament’s official album. The music video also gave the numbers department something to enjoy, pulling in more than seven million views on YouTube in its first 24 hours.

That kind of response made the song impossible for FIFA to ignore, as the tournament expanded to 48 teams and reached an even wider audience. For Speed, who has built much of his online identity around football fandom, the moment also turns a long-running internet obsession into something much more official.

Speed thought the FIFA call might be fake

Speed confirmed the exact song during a livestream while showing viewers FIFA’s announcement. His reaction was not exactly understated.

“I’m gonna be performing at the World Cup Final! Oh my days, oh my days,” he said. “A young kid from Ohio, Portugal is about to perform at the World Cup Final.”

He also told viewers that when he first heard FIFA wanted him for the ceremony, he did not immediately believe it.

“’They heard your song. They want you to perform at the World Cup Final,’” Speed said he was told. “I was like, ‘what?’ I was like, ‘yo, this is a prank call.’”

According to Speed, he celebrated before the news was public by doing a backflip and running around. It is a very Speed way to process a career milestone, which is to say the furniture was probably at risk.

“I think out of everything I’ve done, I think me performing at the World Cup Final is probably one of my most crazy achievements,” he said.

Speed started to grasp the size of the World Cup Final

During the stream, Speed began talking about the massive audience expected for the Final, tried not to think too hard about it.

“I don’t even want to put the picture into perspective,” he told viewers.

He closed the announcement by making the performance choice clear.

“We are going to be performing Champions World Cup at the World Cup Final, y’all,” he said.

Speed has had a packed tournament run. He received the first official FIFA World Cup 2026 Fan ID and traveled between host cities as part of his World Cup tour.

He also captained Team Speed in the YouTube FIFA Creator Cup, leading the side to a 7-6 win over Team Celine. Speed scored twice and added three assists, because apparently just being everywhere was not enough.

For FIFA, booking Speed links the ceremony to the online creators who have changed how younger fans follow football. For Speed, it is a very public arrival at the place he has been shouting about for years.
