Donald Trump Jr. and Bettina Anderson may be moving more carefully toward the aisle than recent pre-wedding events suggested.
Page Six reports that the couple, who got engaged after a year of dating, have not yet set a wedding date because of concerns over the ongoing war in Iran and how a high-profile celebration would be received politically.
Timing is the issue
The pair had appeared to be moving quickly. According to Page Six, Anderson has already had a bridal shower and a bachelorette party at Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump Sr.'s Palm Beach estate, and the couple had been interested in arranging a White House wedding.
Now, the public optics appear to be the sticking point.
“They’re very aware that a lavish wedding at the White House while people are dying wouldn’t be well-received,” an insider told the outlet. “Especially after the state dinner for King Charles — it would be too much pomp and circumstance.”
The source added that Trump Jr. has been openly supportive of the celebrations so far.
“Don was fully supportive of the bridal shower and the bachelorette party — he wants everyone to know he adores her and that they plan to get married,” the insider said. “But they want to make sure the timing is right politically before actually setting a date.”
Engagement came after a year of dating
Page Six first reported in December that Trump Jr. and Anderson were engaged after dating for about a year.
For now, the message from the reported inner circle is simple: the wedding is still the plan, but the calendar is being handled with caution.
