Dolly Parton is getting a new Hollywood Walk of Fame star after her existing marker was vandalized. Meanwhile, her Tennessee theme park is preparing several additions to honor the singer, actress and reliably productive “dreamer-in-chief.”
How Dollywood became a major Tennessee attraction
Parton purchased the Tennessee attraction in 1982, viewing it as a regional counterpart to Disneyland. It has since grown into the state’s largest ticketed tourist destination, welcoming about four million visitors each year.
Dollywood now plans to celebrate its founder through changes combining her Christian faith, love of nature and work supporting children. It is a fairly comprehensive tribute, because apparently a theme park bearing her name still left some room for clarification.
What will change at the Dollywood chapel?
A waterfall will be installed outside the chapel’s front steps. According to the park, it will create a “peaceful setting for guests to pause, reflect and enjoy the natural beauty” of the surrounding area.
