What did Teresa Tapia say about the split?

In a statement to TMZ, Tapia said Sanchez had moved out of their home six months before the divorce and that she had tried to support him through his struggles.

“Diego had moved out of our home 6 months prior to our divorce - I was very patient and continued to try and help him through his problems ... I felt ... I had no choice but to end the marriage,” she said.

Tapia added that she still wishes him well.

“I wish Diego the best in life - I will always have love for him, and I will always continue to be a supporter of his. I hope one day he will realize who was actually there to help him,” she said.

She also mentioned Sanchez’s daughter, Deijah, saying, “I will continue to love his daughter Deijah. I’m always a phone call away for her, she is such a blessing and deserves the world.”

What happened in Diego Sanchez’s criminal case?

The divorce filing came shortly before Sanchez was sentenced in March 2026 in a separate criminal case.

TMZ previously reported that Sanchez received five years of supervised probation and 800 hours of community service. Prosecutors had asked that he serve prison time, but the judge did not impose a prison sentence.

Sanchez had been facing charges connected to allegations that he shot at or from a motor vehicle and negligently used a weapon.

For longtime UFC viewers, Sanchez is a familiar name from a very different chapter of his public life.
