The Costco Twisted Churro is returning to US food courts more than two years after disappearing from the menu. Customers have spent much of that time asking for it back, and Costco has finally listened, although only on a limited-time basis. Naturally, the celebration has already become a campaign to make it permanent.

When will Costco food courts get the churro?

Costco confirmed the comeback in an Instagram post on September 18, two days after teasing that a discontinued food court item was returning.

The first clue arrived in a video filmed beneath one of the chain’s menu boards. “I can’t believe we’re bringing back [bleep] for a limited time,” a person said in the clip. Costco then invited followers to guess the mystery item, adding that it would be available only at US food court locations.

Customers suggested several former favorites, including the combo pizza, but churros quickly emerged as one of the leading predictions. Costco ended the suspense on September 18 and announced that the cinnamon-sugar snack would cost $1.49.

There is no single nationwide launch date. Instead, the churro will roll out across US warehouses over the coming weeks, with timing varying by location. Customers will need to check their local food court, because apparently even fried dough now requires regional availability monitoring.

Why did Costco remove the churro?

Costco took the twisted churro off its food court menu in 2024 and replaced it with the Double Chocolate Chunk Cookie. The change ended the churro’s previous run and prompted repeated requests from customers who preferred their sugar delivered in a long, cinnamon-coated spiral.

Its return follows another churro-related addition earlier this year. Costco introduced the Caramel Churro Sundae, which combines churro bites with vanilla soft serve and caramel sauce. That dessert offered some consolation, but it was not the original full-size snack many customers wanted.

The revived churro is currently described as a limited-time item, and Costco has not said how long it will remain available. That detail has drawn plenty of responses asking the retailer to restore it permanently.

For now, the essentials are straightforward:

  • It costs $1.49.
  • It is available only at US Costco food courts.
  • The rollout will happen over the coming weeks.
  • Availability will differ between warehouses.
  • Costco has not announced an end date or permanent return.

So the churro is back, but customers may want to enjoy it before the menu changes its mind again.
