A Chicago Bulls championship banner from the 1992-93 season is now on the auction block, according to Grey Flannel Auctions. This is not a souvenir copy or a tasteful basement tribute. It is the actual vinyl banner that hung inside the old Chicago Stadium after Michael Jordan and the Bulls completed the franchise’s first three-peat.
What is being auctioned?
The banner honors the Bulls’ 1992-93 NBA title, the third straight championship for a team that had moved well past “good at basketball” and into full dynasty territory.
Grey Flannel Auctions lists the piece as measuring 9 feet 8 inches by 14 feet 4 inches. The design features large black “CHICAGO BULLS” lettering across the top, the team’s bull logo beneath it, and “NBA WORLD CHAMPIONS 1992-93” sewn below.
The auction house says the banner comes with a letter of authenticity. It describes the condition as “excellent,” while noting “minor toning” that gives it an “off-white look.” There are also some “thread pulls,” which feels fairly reasonable for something more than 32 years old and not, despite its résumé, immortal.
Why this banner matters
The banner was displayed at Chicago Stadium until 1994, the year the arena closed permanently. That gives it a direct link to the Bulls’ original championship home, not just the broader mythology around the team.
The 1992-93 Bulls finished the regular season 57-25. In the playoffs, they swept the Atlanta Hawks in the first round, then swept the Cleveland Cavaliers in the conference semifinals.
The Eastern Conference Finals were less polite. Chicago fell behind 2-0 to the New York Knicks, a team very committed to making every possession feel like a workplace incident. The Bulls recovered with four straight wins to take the series and return to the NBA Finals.
There, they faced Charles Barkley and the Phoenix Suns, who had posted the league’s best regular-season record at 62-20. Chicago won the series and secured its third consecutive championship.
When bidding closes
Bidding opened at $1,000, and four bids had already been placed when the auction was reported.
The sale is scheduled to close on June 14. For collectors with enough wall space, and possibly a very understanding contractor, this is one of the more literal ways to buy a piece of Bulls history.
