Camila Cabello and Henry Junior Chalhoub Split

Multiple outlets report that Camila Cabello and Henry Junior Chalhoub have ended their relationship after more than a year together, ended a relationship they kept mostly private, despite a few very public clues.

For Cabello, 29, that privacy was not exactly new. The “Havana” singer has long made it clear that she prefers to keep romance away from the audience section, even when the audience is very invested.

How their relationship became public

Cabello and Chalhoub, 40, first stirred dating speculation in November 2024, when they both attended an Elie Saab afterparty in Saudi Arabia.

The speculation became harder to ignore in January 2025, during a trip to St. Barts. The Grammy nominee and the Lebanese businessman were photographed kissing in the water, which is a fairly efficient way to confirm a romance without issuing a statement.

That vacation was their first public outing as a couple. Until then, the relationship had been more rumor than red carpet, which appeared to suit Cabello’s usual approach to her personal life.

Who Henry Junior Chalhoub is

Chalhoub comes from the family behind the Chalhoub Group, a Dubai-based luxury retail company. According to Forbes, the family is worth an estimated $1.7 billion.

The business operates more than 600 stores worldwide and sells major luxury brands such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Christian Louboutin.

Those ties made the relationship especially noticeable once Cabello and Chalhoub were seen together. Still, the pair did not turn the romance into a public campaign, which may be the rarest luxury product of all.

Cabello has kept love guarded before

Before her relationship with Chalhoub, Cabello dated fellow singer Shawn Mendes from 2019 to 2021. The former couple briefly reunited at Coachella in 2023, prompting plenty of public attention, as reunions involving famous exes tend to do.

Cabello has often been open in her music while keeping firmer lines around her actual relationships. In a 2019 interview with Elle, she explained why she protects that part of her life.

“Love is the most sacred, precious thing to me,” she said. “I want to always feel like my love is between me and that person, and never belonging to anyone else.”

She added, “As much as I love my fans, and as much as I love people, I like to live my life as normally as possible. In a relationship, it makes me feel uncomfortable to invite everyone in on that.”

Her music has carried the messier feelings

Even when Cabello avoids turning her relationships into public property, she has not avoided emotional honesty. Her 2024 album C, XOXO explored complicated feelings without presenting them as neatly solved.

Speaking to Puss Puss in 2024, she described that creative space as more about wrestling with emotion than packaging it.

“There's just the wrestling of those feelings without it being kind of neat or in a box,” she said. “You can't really say that it's a sad song, you can't really pin it down. It's just kind of me wrestling with these feelings and me kind of being really present on a particular feeling and exploring it.”

That may be why the breakup news lands less like a spectacle and more like another reminder of how carefully Cabello separates public performance from private life. The songs may invite listeners in, but the relationship itself was never presented as something for everyone to hold.
