Zach Bryan broke the Gillette Stadium attendance record as 73,538 fans packed the Foxborough, Massachusetts, venue. He did so while wearing a “Free Palestine” shirt for the second time, adding a political detail that the stadium’s celebratory photos did not exactly place in the foreground.
Gillette Stadium announced the crowd figure on Instagram, confirming that the “Pink Skies” singer had set a new mark at the venue owned by Robert Kraft.
Why fans focused on Bryan’s shirt
Bryan and his entire band wore pro-Palestinian shirts and jerseys during both nights of their Gillette Stadium run. The clothing came from Wear the Peace, a humanitarian organization that supports people in Gaza.
Some fans noticed that the stadium’s official photos announcing the record avoided close-up views of Bryan’s shirt. Alana Hadid, the sister of Bella Hadid and Gigi Hadid, was among those who drew attention to the choice.
The images still documented the enormous crowd, just not the message printed across the performer at the center of it. A wide shot can be useful that way.
Why Robert Kraft’s role matters
The setting gave Bryan’s clothing additional significance. Kraft previously played a major part in removing Macklemore from Ed Sheeran’s tour following the rapper’s pro-Palestinian comments.
Two Ed Sheeran concerts scheduled for Gillette Stadium were later cancelled because of a nor’easter. Bryan then arrived at the same venue, wore “Free Palestine” clothing across two performances and set its attendance record.
Gillette Stadium publicly celebrated the 73,538-person turnout, while fans supplied the political context missing from its closer promotional images. The record itself was straightforward. Everything surrounding it was rather less so.
