Macklemore has announced a Free Palestine Tour, taking his political message to Europe after being removed from planned appearances at Ed Sheeran concerts in the United States. The first three shows are scheduled for October 26 in Dublin, October 29 in Paris and October 30 in London.
The rapper revealed the dates on social media on Thursday, September 24, saying public support for Palestinian liberation had shifted significantly in recent years. Evidently, losing stadium work has not persuaded him to choose a quieter subject.
What Macklemore said about artists staying silent
In his announcement, Macklemore argued that audiences increasingly expect musicians to address political issues rather than remain neutral.
“It’s 2026. Being apolitical during a genocide doesn’t work anymore,” he wrote. “People are asking artists to show up, educate themselves and be in community. To use the stage for more than entertainment. To push back when the call for a Free Palestine is met with attempts to silence it.”
The comments appeared partly directed at Ed Sheeran, who has faced criticism since Macklemore was dropped from his stadium dates. Sheeran has said he had nothing to do with that decision, although critics argue he should have publicly defended the rapper. Macklemore did not name Sheeran in the passage, but the timing was not especially subtle.
Macklemore also warned about what he described as a coordinated effort by billionaires to suppress political speech. He urged people to pay attention to who controls major venues and how that power can affect performers who speak publicly about Palestinians.
Will the tour include shows in the United States?
According to Macklemore, American dates are also being developed, although no cities or venues have been announced. One location appears safely off the list: Gillette Stadium, the Massachusetts venue owned by Robert Kraft.
Since being removed from the Sheeran shows, Macklemore said he has contacted other artists who have used their platforms to support Palestinians despite possible professional consequences. He acknowledged that organizers still have details to settle, but said the tour itself will go ahead.
Presale tickets for the announced European dates will become available on Monday, September 28. General ticket sales begin Wednesday, September 30.
Macklemore said all proceeds from the concerts will go to organizations supporting Palestinian people and the wider Palestinian movement. Further dates, including the possible US leg, are expected to be announced later.
