The Tobey Maguire divorce is finally moving toward official single status, years after Jennifer Meyer filed to end their marriage. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the former couple has reached an agreement to dissolve the marriage, subject to a judge’s approval.

The deal would legally restore both Maguire and Meyer as single people. It does not, however, settle every part of the case. Their assets and other outstanding issues still need to be resolved, because divorce proceedings are apparently available in installments.

What remains unresolved?

Maguire and Meyer have agreed to appoint a private judge to handle any disputes while they work through the remaining financial and family matters.

In 2025, Maguire asked the court for joint legal and physical custody of their son, Otis, who is now 16. He also requested private mediation to address child support and spousal support, pointing to the couple’s prenuptial agreement.

Their daughter, Ruby, is 18 and legally an adult, which removes custody arrangements for her from the case. That leaves the former couple to focus on Otis, support questions, property and whatever other details have kept the paperwork alive.

How long has the divorce taken?

Maguire and Meyer announced their separation in 2016 after nine years of marriage. Meyer formally filed for divorce in October 2020.

The case then remained unresolved for several years before Maguire made his custody and mediation requests in 2025. Their latest agreement marks the clearest step yet toward ending the marriage on paper, even if the wider settlement is still unfinished.

Once the judge signs the agreement, Maguire and Meyer will officially be single. The remaining disputes can continue separately, allowing the legal status of the marriage to end without waiting for every financial and custody issue to be completed.
