Sydney Sweeney and Scooter Braun turned a Queenstown getaway into a compact advertisement for New Zealand adventure tourism, sharing footage from the Nevis Valley that included a tandem canyon swing and a separate nighttime bungy jump.
The videos posted over the weekend show Sweeney and Braun strapped together, facing and holding each other before launching over the canyon. They smile through the preparation, drop into free fall and rebound above the valley, all while several cameras capture the experience from useful promotional angles. Braun also posted selfie footage that put viewers directly into the descent.
Sweeney captioned the trip “Jumped over to Queenstown” and described the tandem ride in Braun’s comments as the “biggest trust fall ever.” In this case, the safety harness was doing most of the serious relationship work.
The footage shows two different Nevis attractions
Although early coverage broadly described the activity as a tandem bungee jump, the footage appears to document multiple experiences at AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand’s Nevis site.
The face-to-face tandem launch was a canyon swing. AJ Hackett markets the Nevis Swing as the world’s largest, with a 300-meter arc through the valley. Another clip showed a head-first nighttime jump, consistent with the nearby Nevis Bungy, a 134-meter drop promoted as New Zealand’s highest bungy.
The distinction is more than branding. A bungy jump uses an elastic cord to send a participant vertically downward before the cord rebounds. A canyon swing begins with a drop but transitions into a wide swinging arc. Both involve voluntarily leaving a stable platform at height, because apparently sightseeing alone was insufficient.
Queenstown has built a substantial tourism operation around exactly this type of filmed, shareable experience. The region’s commercial bungy history dates to November 1988, when AJ Hackett opened its Kawarau Bridge operation. The Nevis attractions extend that model with greater height, remote terrain and camera packages designed to turn each jump into ready-made social content.
The getaway was not only a couples’ trip
The romantic framing is understandable, but reporting from Us Weekly indicates the excursion was partly a group outing connected to Sweeney’s recent work in the region.
Actor Noah Centineo, Sweeney’s co-star in Legendary’s live-action Gundam film, reportedly joined the trip. Activities included:
- A helicopter ride
- Mountaintop golf
- Archery
- The Nevis adventure excursion
Habertürk reported that Sweeney traveled to Queenstown after finishing work on Gundam. She had been based nearby in Australia for the production, which also stars Centineo. That makes the trip look as much like a post-production celebration as a dedicated romantic holiday, though Braun’s presence and the pair’s tandem footage naturally attracted most of the attention.
The combination is operationally neat: finish a major film shoot, cross to a well-established tourism hub, book several high-impact activities and leave with enough professionally captured footage to populate multiple social posts. Queenstown’s adventure industry has had decades to refine that pipeline.
Where Sweeney and Braun’s relationship stands
Sweeney, 28, and Braun, 45, were first publicly linked in September 2025. Us Weekly initially characterized the relationship as casual, then reported in April 2026 that the two had become “very serious.” Their public appearances and travel together have since added to that picture.
Braun, the music executive best known for managing major artists and later leading entertainment ventures, previously discussed Sweeney on the Second Thought podcast. He called her “an extraordinary woman, kind and generous and smart,” and described the relationship as “one of the biggest surprises ever.”
The Queenstown posts do not formally announce anything new about their status. They do, however, show the pair comfortable sharing an unusually well-documented experience together, complete with harnesses, aerial drops and public comments.
For Sweeney, the trip also bridges two parts of her current schedule: completing work on Gundam and taking a highly visible break with Braun and Centineo. For Queenstown, the celebrity footage delivers what its tourism system is built to produce: dramatic scenery, controlled risk and social media promotion that does not need much explanation.
