The Spider-Man: Brand New Day credits scene sends Tom Holland’s Peter Parker somewhere far beyond New York, while leaving viewers with the familiar Marvel task of guessing which enormous crossover comes next. After saving the city and reconnecting with an old friend, Spider-Man appears to leave Earth entirely. The question is whether that trip leads to Avengers: Doomsday, Avengers: Secret Wars, or another adventure Marvel and Sony are not ready to name.
How Jean Grey changes Peter Parker’s story
The movie confirms a major piece of casting that fans had discussed for months: Sadie Sink plays X-Men member Jean Grey. She initially serves as the film’s main antagonist, targeting the Department of Damage Control in a campaign driven by grief and anger.
Peter eventually learns that Damage Control kidnapped and killed Jean’s older sister, Sara. Once he understands what set her on this path, he persuades Jean to remove the psychic bubble she created over New York, which had frozen nearly everyone in the city.
The resolution is not exactly peaceful. Jon Bernthal’s Punisher tries to shoot Jean with a sniper rifle, and Spider-Man takes the bullet while protecting her. Peter survives and begins recovering by the end of the film. Jean leaves town afterward, possibly heading upstate to Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, though the movie does not confirm her destination.
That choice gives Jean room to return elsewhere in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It also reinforces Peter’s defining instinct: even after learning what Jean has done, he focuses on saving her rather than treating her as disposable.
Does Ned remember Peter again?
The film’s final scene brings Peter face to face with his former best friend, Ned, played by Jacob Batalon. Doctor Strange’s spell at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home erased the world’s memory of Peter Parker, leaving Ned and Zendaya’s MJ unaware of their history with him.
Ned recognizes Peter only as the stranger who disrupted his house party earlier in Brand New Day. With little left to protect, Peter introduces himself again. The two then perform their old secret handshake perfectly, and Ned appears to recover his memories just before the film cuts to black.
The moment does not explain whether Doctor Strange’s spell is weakening, whether emotional connections can restore erased memories, or whether something specific about the handshake triggered Ned’s response. It does, however, reopen the possibility that MJ could eventually remember Peter too.
For Peter, the development carries more weight than another multiverse clue. No Way Home ended with him isolated from the people closest to him. Ned’s apparent recognition offers the first real sign that those relationships may not be permanently lost.
Where is Spider-Man in the post-credits scene?
Earlier in the movie, Ned creates an app called the Spidey Tracker, which follows Spider-Man’s location. The app returns during the post-credits sequence and begins searching for the wall-crawler.
Instead of settling on a location in New York, the map keeps pulling back. It moves beyond the city, beyond Earth and finally into space, where it identifies Spider-Man’s position. The film then displays the promise that “Spider-Man will return.”
What it does not provide is a date, destination or title. Peter could have traveled into space within the main MCU timeline, been pulled into another universe, or ended up somewhere created by the coming conflict with Doctor Doom. Marvel has arranged several plausible routes and helpfully labeled none of them.
The scene makes one point clear: Holland’s next appearance is likely to connect Spider-Man with the MCU’s larger cosmic or multiverse storyline rather than keeping him solely at street level.
Could Tom Holland appear in Avengers: Doomsday?
Holland is not currently listed among the extensive announced cast for Avengers: Doomsday. The crossover already includes major characters from the Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men and Thunderbolts, who are expected to face Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.
His absence from the announced lineup does not rule out an appearance. Marvel has frequently protected surprise cameos, and a post-credits scene that places Spider-Man in space gives the studio an easy way to bring him into the conflict. Still, the movie offers no direct confirmation that Doomsday is his destination.
If Holland does appear, his role could range from a brief reveal to a larger part in the battle against Doom. Until Marvel or Sony confirms it, both remain speculation.
Is Secret Wars the more likely destination?
If Spider-Man skips Doomsday, Avengers: Secret Wars provides another clear possibility. The follow-up is scheduled for next year and could adapt elements from the Marvel Comics storyline that creates Battleworld, a single realm assembled from pieces of different worlds.
In the comics, Battleworld brings heroes and alternate versions of characters together in one place. A similar approach in the MCU could explain how the Avengers, Fantastic Four and X-Men eventually share the same universe after years of separate histories and complicated rights arrangements.
It could also create an opening for Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield to return as their versions of Spider-Man after crossing into Holland’s world in No Way Home. Nothing in Brand New Day confirms their involvement, but a multiverse gathering would make it narratively possible.
For now, the credits scene establishes the direction without naming the destination. Peter Parker has recovered one fragile piece of his personal life, then promptly vanished into space. Wherever he lands, his next MCU chapter looks considerably larger than New York.
