Allie Shehorn described the attack in court
Shehorn, a makeup artist whose credits include major productions such as Babylon, told the court how Pasqual forced his way through a locked door.
“I locked the door, and he just started punching holes in that door and broke that open, and I just ran into the bathroom because I thought there was another lock on that door,” she said.
She was later found by her roommate, Christine White, who previously told KTLA she “acted fast when she found Allie bleeding out.”
“I found her and I had to go into the bedroom where it happened. That wasn’t a pretty sight,” White said.
“This is not the kind of thing that should happen to anybody. You don’t think this is ever going to happen to you.”
According to a GoFundMe set up for Shehorn, she was admitted to hospital in critical condition and spent more than a week there after nearly dying from her injuries. She continues to carry visible effects from the attack, including scarring on her neck.
Shehorn said she wanted justice
In 2024, Shehorn told the Daily Mail she intended to attend every court hearing.
“I just hope that there’s justice served. People should know that this shouldn’t happen, and he can’t get away with it,” she said.
She also said she was “dealing with permanent damage” and “can’t go back completely to how I was.” At the time, she hoped to return to her work despite injuries affecting her hands and vision.
“That’s the goal. I still don’t have feeling back in my hands and partial vision loss that I can’t get back,” she said.
Prosecutors condemned the violence
After the attack, then-District Attorney George Gascón issued a statement calling the case a domestic violence incident with lasting physical and emotional consequences.
“My thoughts and heartfelt sympathies are with the victim in this horrific incident,” he said.
“Our office, including our Bureau of Victim Services, extends our support and resources to her as she embarks on the long and difficult journey of healing from both the physical and emotional trauma inflicted upon her.
“This heinous incident is a stark reminder of the dangers of domestic violence. We will ensure that the individual responsible for this egregious act is held accountable for their actions.”
Pasqual has appeared in a number of onscreen projects beyond How I Met Your Mother, including American Gangster: Trap Queens, High Mystery and Archive 81. The next major date in the case will be his sentencing.
