Millie Bobby Brown’s motherhood philosophy is simple enough: celebrate the people doing the work, and let children have some privacy while they are still too young to request it themselves. After she and husband Jake Bongiovi announced in August that they had adopted a baby girl, the Stranger Things alum marked her first Mother’s Day with a message that widened the spotlight beyond one version of motherhood.

What Millie Bobby Brown said about motherhood

Speaking to Extra at the 2026 Netflix Upfront in New York City on May 13, Brown said Mother’s Day should include adoptive mothers, birth mothers and maternal figures of all kinds.

“We're all mothers,” she said. “No matter if we're adoptive mothers, birth mothers, a maternal figure. Everybody should be celebrated.”
