Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith’s family trip to Nevis offered a notably calm picture of life after divorce: two parents, their 6-year-old daughter Juno and several days of Caribbean scenery. It also arrived after a more complicated stretch of custody negotiations than the holiday photos might suggest.
Turner-Smith shared images from the West Indies vacation on Instagram on August 4, including a photo of Juno hugging Jackson. “Dreamy days at @fsnevis,” she wrote, referring to the Four Seasons Resort Nevis.
The posts showed the family enjoying the pool, local wildlife and the island’s beaches. Juno, who was born in April 2020, also received a custom cookie cake decorated with her name.
What the Nevis vacation does and does not mean
The trip comes nearly three years after Jackson and Turner-Smith separated. Turner-Smith filed for divorce in October 2023 and listed September 13, 2023, as their separation date. Jackson gave September 30 in his response.
E! News reported the vacation based on Turner-Smith’s social media posts. No subsequent report has indicated that the former couple reconciled romantically. The available evidence points instead to a shared holiday centered on Juno.
That distinction matters because photographs of former partners together tend to attract speculation with impressive efficiency. A poolside picture is not a legal filing, much less a romance announcement.
Still, the vacation may reflect a more practical easing of tensions after the pair moved unresolved custody matters away from a public court fight. For their daughter, the emotional value is simpler: both parents were present, and the family appeared able to spend time together without making the child choose between them.
Their divorce settlement did not resolve every issue
Jackson and Turner-Smith reached a financial and property settlement in May 2025. According to Us Weekly, the agreement established joint legal and physical custody, included no ongoing spousal support and required Jackson to pay $2,787 per month in child support.
Reports at the time often described the divorce as finalized. However, the marital settlement did not close every dispute involving Juno. The former couple continued to disagree over her schooling and international travel arrangements.
A custody trial was scheduled for October 2025, but the pair canceled it one day before it was due to begin. Turner-Smith’s lawyer told the court that the parents were negotiating a custody judgment privately and planned to use a private judge if they reached an impasse.
During those negotiations, Jackson wrote that “Juno needs both of us. Ideally exactly equally,” while arguing against either parent going extended periods without contact with her. Turner-Smith said they shared the goal of giving Juno stability, consistency and meaningful time with both parents.
The Nevis holiday therefore followed not just a divorce settlement, but a decision to handle their remaining disagreements more privately.
Turner-Smith wants two loving homes for Juno
Turner-Smith discussed the emotional work behind co-parenting during a June 29 appearance on Hoda Kotb’s Joy 101 podcast. She noted that both she and Jackson grew up with divorced parents, making the language they use around their own separation especially important.
“It’s always been important to think about, ‘OK, what is the language around which we are going to talk about this with our daughter?’” she said.
Because Juno is still young, Turner-Smith said the parents are trying to balance honesty with age-appropriate explanations.
“It’s like you got to walk this line between obviously being age appropriate and child-centered in the way that you talk about it,” she said, “but also keeping it real so that she has an understanding of what this means.”
Her preferred framing is straightforward: “The idea is always two homes filled with love.” She added, “You got two houses, girl!”
Jackson has similarly spoken about the pleasure of watching Juno grow. In a 2025 interview with E! News, the Dr. Odyssey actor said she seemed to change every few days and described starting school as the year’s major milestone.
The Nevis photos cannot show what remains unresolved in private negotiations. They do show the outcome both parents have publicly said they want: Juno spending meaningful time with each of them, with room for the occasional family vacation too.
