Jared Leto has denied sexual assault allegations made by four women, issuing a blanket rejection of claims involving alleged incidents when the women were teenagers.
“I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life,” Leto told TMZ on July 29, 2026. “These claims are absolutely and categorically false.”
What the four women have alleged
The women separately accused the Oscar-winning actor of sexual assault, threatening sexual assault or inappropriate sexual conduct. Their allegations include:
- One woman claims Leto sexually assaulted her in a motel bathroom when she was 17.
- Another alleges he threatened to sexually assault her when she was 19.
- A third says she had sex with Leto in California at 17 and later discussed the state’s age of consent, which is 18. She claims he dismissed the issue.
- A fourth alleges Leto groomed her through sexually explicit phone calls when she was 16. She says he later sent her a nondisclosure agreement, which she refused to sign.
Leto’s statement denied the accusations collectively. The response provided to TMZ did not address the women’s accounts individually.
How the BBC documentary fits in
The denial follows the BBC documentary Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret, in which six other women discussed alleged experiences involving Leto.
According to the BBC, the incidents described in the documentary allegedly occurred between 2002 and 2016, when Leto was in his 30s and 40s. The claims therefore cover a period of roughly 14 years rather than one isolated point in his career.
Leto is now 54. He maintains that he has never sexually assaulted anyone and says the allegations against him are “categorically false.”
