Why the markup is especially odd

The usual resale logic depends on limited stock, hard-to-find discs, or a collector’s edition disappearing before most people even finish reading the checkout page. GTA 6 does not currently fit that pattern.

Rockstar has confirmed that digital pre-loading begins on November 12. The physical edition is also scheduled to be available from November 12 to support pre-loading, but the box will not contain a traditional disc. Instead, buyers get a code to redeem the digital download.

In Rockstar’s own wording for the physical editions, “a disk will not be included in the box.”

That detail matters because it undercuts the usual scarcity argument around physical stock. A boxed copy may still be desirable for collectors or gift buyers, but it is not a disc-based release where supply shortages would explain the resale rush.

Demand is already ramping up

The eBay sales are a small but telling snapshot of the pressure around Grand Theft Auto 6. After years of anticipation, some buyers seem willing to spend extra just to feel locked in early, even though the same order is still available through standard storefronts.

That says plenty about the scale of demand for Rockstar’s sequel. It also says something less flattering about how quickly a major entertainment launch can produce a resale market, even when there is no obvious shortage to exploit.

For anyone not in a hurry to overpay, the practical answer is simple: Rockstar’s official pricing remains $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition, ahead of the November 19, 2026 release.
