The final stage of GTA 6 development may be less about adding features and more about making sure the enormous existing game actually works. Former Rockstar Games developer Mike York believes the studio is now focused on testing and refinement ahead of the November 19, 2026 release.

That is still an informed estimate, not an official production update. York no longer works at Rockstar and made clear that he has no current inside knowledge. His comments nevertheless match several reports suggesting that Grand Theft Auto VI is broadly complete, even as other reporting indicates some missions and launch content may still be under review.

The distinction matters. After two delays, Rockstar is heading toward one of the largest commercial launches in gaming history while its employees are asking for firm protections against the overtime often associated with the final months of development.
