Netflix has confirmed that Wednesday Season 3 has officially wrapped production, marking the occasion with a new image of Jenna Ortega seated at a typewriter as Wednesday Addams. It is an appropriately old-fashioned tool for a character who treats modern cheerfulness as a personal insult.
The new season was filmed in Paris and Dublin. Ortega returns to lead the Tim Burton-directed series, which premiered in 2022 and quickly became one of Netflix’s largest hits.
Season 2 arrived in two parts in August and September 2025. Its first four episodes drew 50 million views in five days, matching the launch of the first season. That debut season remains Netflix’s most-watched English-language series and ranks second worldwide behind Squid Game Season 1. Season 2 later finished as the platform’s 10th most-watched title of all time.
Who is returning to the cast?
The central Addams family will remain intact, which is useful because replacing relatives tends to create unnecessary paperwork. Catherine Zeta-Jones returns as Morticia Addams, with Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams.
Other returning cast members include:
- Emma Myers as Wednesday’s werewolf roommate, Enid Sinclair
- Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester
- Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin
- Joy Sunday
- Moosa Mostafa
- Georgie Farmer
- Billie Piper
- Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo
- Victor Dorobantu
- Evie Templeton
- Joanna Lumley
- Andrew McCarthy
The season will also introduce Eva Green as Ophelia Frump, Morticia’s sister and Wednesday’s aunt. Her arrival expands the Addams family tree, a structure unlikely to produce anything resembling a calm reunion.
Which new actors are joining Season 3?
Winona Ryder is among the major additions to the third season. Her casting reunites her with Ortega and Burton after Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, in which Ryder reprised her role as Lydia Deetz and Ortega played Lydia’s daughter, Astrid.
The other newcomers are Lena Headey, James Lance, Oscar Morgan, Chris Sarandon, Noah Taylor and Kennedy Moyer. Netflix has not detailed all of their roles, leaving viewers with the traditional option of examining every production image for suspicious clothing and meaningful facial expressions.
Green’s role is more clearly defined. Ophelia Frump has long been part of the wider Addams family mythology, and her introduction gives the series another direct connection to Morticia’s side of the family. It also provides Wednesday with a new aunt, as if Uncle Fester did not already supply enough unconventional adult supervision.
Where did the second season leave Wednesday?
Season 2 ended with Wednesday and Uncle Fester setting out to rescue Enid. Wednesday’s roommate had become trapped in her alpha werewolf form, creating the central unresolved problem heading into the next chapter.
That storyline follows another season of supernatural threats, family complications and Nevermore Academy turmoil. The production announcement confirms filming is finished, but Netflix has not provided further story details in the material accompanying the new first-look image.
The series draws from the characters created by cartoonist Charles Addams. Alfred Gough and Miles Millar developed the television adaptation and continue as executive producers and showrunners. Burton serves as a director and executive producer, while MGM Television produces the series.
With production now complete, the third season moves into post-production. Wednesday, meanwhile, has apparently been given access to a typewriter. That should be enough to produce several pages of criticism before breakfast.
