Eva Longoria has apparently spent plenty of time on Wisteria Lane without ever feeling the need to sit down and watch it back. The Desperate Housewives star said she has never watched the ABC drama, despite playing Gabrielle Solis through all eight seasons and despite the show finding fresh life with streaming audiences.

Why Eva Longoria still has not watched the series

Longoria made the confession on the May 26 episode of Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s Dinner’s On Me podcast, where she said the show’s renewed popularity has not tempted her into a rewatch.

“Everybody's re-watching it. It was, like, number two the other day on streaming,” she said. “I keep getting notifications like, ‘Do you wanna watch Housewives?’ I go, ‘No, I don't. I'm fine. I made it.’”

It is a very efficient way to opt out of nostalgia: live it once, collect the memories, ignore the algorithm politely.

Longoria played Gabrielle Solis from 2004 to 2012, during the show’s full run on ABC. The series became a major network hit about the secrets, scandals, and friendships of women living on the deceptively polished Wisteria Lane.

What she said about a possible revival

Longoria also addressed whether fans might ever see Gabrielle again in a continuation of the original series. According to her, creator Marc Cherry is not interested in revisiting the same characters.

“This was a time where we did 24 episodes a year for a decade,” Longoria said of the original production schedule. “There's none of this six-to-eight bulls--t.”

She said Cherry feels the show already exhausted the characters’ stories.

“Marc’s like, ‘We fully mined the characters.’ And I was like, I can't sleep with one more person on the street,” she joked. “Like, I literally have slept with everybody.”

That may not be the official reason to skip a revival, but it is certainly a memorable one.

Longoria has said she would return

Even if Cherry is not eager to reopen that particular suburban chapter, Longoria has previously made clear she would not be the obstacle.

In a 2022 appearance on Good Day New York, she said she would happily return if a revival came together.

“Believe me, I would be the first to sign up,” Longoria said. “Like, I'm already on Wisteria Lane, and I'd be like ‘sign me up.’”

So the situation is not exactly a feud with the past. Longoria seems fond of the role and the show’s place in pop culture. She just does not appear to need eight seasons of homework about a job she already did.

A spinoff is moving forward without Marc Cherry

While a direct revival is not currently planned, the Desperate Housewives universe is not entirely quiet. A spinoff produced by Kerry Washington is in development, and Longoria’s former co-star Felicity Huffman has already voiced support for it.

Huffman told E! News in 2025 that she is “completely 100 percent behind it.”

“Kerry Washington, it's so great that she's doing it with women of color,” Huffman said. “It's exactly what's needed.”

The 63-year-old added, “So, it's going to be a great ride.”

Cherry is not involved in the spinoff at this point, but Huffman said she hopes the new project can capture what helped the original connect with viewers.

“Marc has a very specific voice, and that singular voice resonated with people,” she said. “And the way he created those women's friendships, the friendship is key.”

The original series also starred Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross, and Nicollette Sheridan, alongside Longoria and Huffman. For viewers who discovered it during its network run, the appeal was not just the mystery or the glossy chaos. It was the show’s mix of friendship, competition, loneliness, and bad decisions made behind very tidy front doors.

Longoria may not be rewatching, but plenty of other people clearly are. Wisteria Lane, inconveniently for its former residents, still has visitors.
