HBO’s most volatile teen drama is back in motion, and Season 3 is not easing anyone in gently. After a long wait, Euphoria returned with a premiere centered largely on Rue, who was shown moving drugs across the US-Mexico border for Laurie and apparently finding religion somewhere along the way.
The season has also acknowledged losses behind and in front of the camera, with dedications to cast and crew members who died between Seasons 1 and 2, including Angus Cloud. His character, Fez, remains alive in the show.
Episode 2 pushed Rue further into trouble and closer to Jules. Now Episode 4 is set to widen the mess, with Jules’ past, Laurie’s drug-world tensions, and Nate and Cassie’s marriage all coming into focus.

What happens in Episode 4?
Spoilers ahead for Euphoria Season 3 Episode 4.
Episode 4 turns the spotlight toward Jules, Rue, Cassie, and Nate, and none of them are exactly thriving. Jules’ recent life is filled in through backstory: she has been studying art while also making money as a sugar baby, dating a lawyer, a Hollywood producer, and a finance worker.
The person who seems to offer her something closer to happiness is a wealthy plastic surgeon with a family and a very specific fixation: wrapping Jules in cellophane so she can be “beautiful forever.” Subtlety remains on holiday.
Rue, meanwhile, is pulled further into the conflict between Alamo and Laurie. The episode opens with Alamo shooting a pig, and the feud escalates until Laurie’s treasured parrot is poisoned. Rue also speaks with Fez in prison, telling him he is her boy and offering to pick him up if he manages to escape.
The biggest set piece, though, is Nate and Cassie’s wedding. The ceremony looks stunning, helped along by a sea of flowers the couple apparently could not afford. That detail becomes important when Naseem arrives demanding repayment and warns Nate that he will become his “worst f*cking nightmare.”
Cassie overhears the confrontation, and the newlyweds argue during their first dance. The night deteriorates further when Cassie pops a cork straight into Nate’s eye, sending him into a rage.
Then comes the homecoming. When Nate carries Cassie over the threshold, Naseem is waiting inside. Nate is beaten badly, leaving blood across the carpet and walls. In one of the episode’s stranger comic turns, Naseem and Cassie briefly connect before Nate’s toe is cut off as payment.
The episode closes on two grim notes: Rue is picked up by the DEA, and Laurie’s parrot drops dead from its perch.
Episodes 1-3 of Euphoria Season 3 are available now on HBO, with Episode 4 arriving Sunday, May 3.
