At the Kevin Hart Netflix roast, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson did not arrive quietly. He reunited with his longtime co-star for a live special that leaned hard into their familiar dynamic: Johnson as the towering straight-faced aggressor, Hart as the very loud target who agreed to the format and then immediately had reasons to regret it.
Johnson’s entrance at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles came with special effects and Queen’s “We Will Rock You,” because subtlety was apparently not on the production schedule. Once onstage, he quickly made clear that his set would not be gentle.
“Now, I know what you’re all assuming is that I’m here to carry another shitty Kevin Hart vehicle, but for once, that’s not the case,” Johnson said. “I’m actually here tonight because someone needs to chew up Kevin’s food and spit it in his mouth. Isn’t that right? My little chocolate baby bird.”
What did Dwayne Johnson say about Kevin Hart?
Johnson and Hart have built a public friendship partly on the fact that they look physically mismatched enough to make every press tour feel like a bit. The roast used that contrast early and often.
Johnson called Hart his “little Burnt Oompa-Loompa,” then shifted from Hart’s height to his marriage, giving a pointed shoutout to the women seated on the dais before turning his attention to Eniko Hart.
“I want to just take a moment to give a shout out to all the ladies up here on this dais,” Johnson said. “You all look beautiful, magnificent, sexy. You know who else looks sexy? Kevin’s wife, Eniko.”
Hart immediately reacted with, “What the fuck,” which, given the venue and the premise, was both an objection and technically part of the entertainment.
Johnson answered, “I’m just giving her compliments!”
Why Eniko Hart became the center of the roast
Johnson kept going, making Eniko Hart the focus of some of the set’s most explicit jokes. He said she “deserves an Academy Award for pretending she likes to fuck you,” then suggested he and Eniko should get together and “open up a bottle of tequila and, you know...”
When Hart visibly reacted, Johnson added, “Stop squirming, Kevin!”
The jokes stayed in the very adult lane. Johnson said he had finally figured out why women like Hart, claiming it was because “he’s the same size and color as their favorite dildo, and the little motherfucker is twice as loud.”
Chelsea Handler also joined in from the dais, asking, “Don’t you think it’s time for Eniko to be with somebody that is bigger than her?”
The moment worked because Hart and Johnson’s friendship has long depended on mock hostility. Still, there is a difference between a buddy joke and a roast joke, and this one was very much filed under: signed waiver, proceed carefully.
How Kevin Hart responded onstage
Johnson closed his set by moving back toward affection, though not without one last swing.
“I love you. Yes, I do,” Johnson told Hart. “Just to prove it, just last week, I got a Kevin Hart tattoo on my cock. Yeah, life size too... Eniko, I’ll show you later. Kidding. She’s already seen it!”
Hart fired back from his seat: “Why would you say that about my fucking wife? I want to talk to you later.”
Johnson responded by reminding him of the rules Hart had apparently set beforehand: “But you’re the one who said, ‘Hey, listen, fucking say anything you want!’”
That exchange captured the odd emotional math of celebrity roasts. The insults are scripted to bruise, but the friendship has to be sturdy enough to make the audience believe everyone will still be speaking afterward.
Why their reunion mattered beyond the jokes
Johnson and Hart have appeared together in several films, including “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” “Jumanji: The Next Level” and “Central Intelligence.” Their screen partnership has relied on the same basic comic imbalance seen during the roast: Johnson’s polished, oversized confidence crashing into Hart’s frantic defensiveness.
They are also set to reunite for their third and final “Jumanji” movie, “Jumanji: Open World,” this Christmas. That timing gave the roast a useful promotional undertone, though the jokes about Eniko were not exactly a standard press release with better lighting.
The special also featured Venus Williams, Serena Williams, Lizzo and Tom Brady, along with comedians and actors including Tony Hinchliffe, Pete Davidson, Draymond Green, Tiffany Haddish, Sheryl Underwood, Regina Hall and Na’im Lynn.
The live event was hosted by Shane Gillis and filmed at the Kia Forum at 5 p.m. PT on Sunday. It took place on the final night of Netflix Is a Joke Fest, giving Hart a major platform, a packed room and a reminder that when you invite people to say anything, some of them will take notes.
