Channing Tatum is keeping his public response indirect, but not exactly silent.
As engagement speculation swirls around his former fiancée Zoë Kravitz and Harry Styles, the Magic Mike actor used Instagram to spotlight a poem about emotional exhaustion, inner conflict and the small mercy of breathing through it.
Tatum’s Instagram Story pointed fans to a poem
On April 27, Tatum, 46, posted a poem by writer John Roedel to his Instagram Story. His only instruction to followers was one word: “read.”
Roedel had originally shared the piece four days earlier. It opens with the lines, “My brain and heart divorced / a decade ago / about who was to blame about how big of a mess I have become / Eventually, they couldn't be in the same room together.”
The poem continues by imagining the mind and heart as estranged co-parents: “Now my head and heart share custody of me.” It describes the heart as being “always sad about something that happened yesterday,” while the head is “always worried about something that may happen tomorrow.”
The speaker then turns to the gut, framed as an “unofficial therapist,” before being redirected somewhere calmer.
“My gut smiled and said: / ‘in that case, you should stay with your lungs for a while,’” the poem reads. “There is only breath / and in that breath, you can rest while your heart and head work out their relationship.”
It ends with the narrator arriving at the lungs, where the door opens with “a smile and a gust of wind” and the line: “what took you so long?”
For a celebrity Instagram Story, that is not a press conference. It is also not nothing. Stars rarely post emotional literature by accident when their personal lives are back in the news, though the post does not directly mention Kravitz, Styles or any engagement rumors.
The Kravitz and Tatum timeline
Tatum and Kravitz, 37, began dating in 2021 after working together on Blink Twice, Kravitz’s feature directorial debut. The pair became engaged two years later.
Their relationship ended in 2024, shortly after the film’s release. Kravitz later spoke warmly about both the movie and their time together, telling Elle last year, “I love this thing that we made together and I care for him very much.”
She added, “I’m so happy that all happened. I just feel so grateful to go on that journey together.”
Tatum, who shares 12-year-old daughter Everly with ex-wife Jenna Dewan, has not publicly discussed the breakup in detail.
Where things stand now
Tatum has since moved on romantically. Last April, he made his relationship with model Inka Williams Instagram official.
At the time, Williams posted a birthday message for him on Instagram Stories, writing, “Happy life to the handsomest, kindest, funniest, stoopidest [sic] most gorgeous human ever. Merci for making life more beautiful.”
Tatum returned the affection in September for Williams’ 26th birthday, sharing a photo of her riding on the back of his motorcycle at Burning Man. His caption read, “Happiest day of birth to my RIDER!” He added, “Love you so.”
Kravitz, meanwhile, has been linked to Harry Styles following her 2024 split from Tatum. The new wave of attention around her and Styles has centered on engagement rumors, which neither has publicly confirmed in the reporting cited here.
So Tatum’s post remains what celebrity social media often is: suggestive, carefully unspecific and open to far too much interpretation. The poem, at least, makes its advice plain. When the heart and head are making noise, breathe.
