Spotify Reserved is the company’s latest attempt to make concert ticket buying feel a little less like a stress test with service fees. The new feature gives certain Premium subscribers early access to buy tour tickets, based on signs that they are genuinely engaged with an artist’s music.

For anyone who has watched a ticketing page freeze at the exact wrong moment, the appeal is obvious. Spotify is betting that listening history can help artists reach the people most likely to show up, sing along and not immediately relist the seat.

How Spotify’s early ticket access works

Spotify announced Reserved on May 21. The program is available to eligible Spotify Premium users in the United States who are 18 or older, with additional markets planned later.
