Selena Gomez is trying on a new shade of mystery. In a June 3 Instagram post from London, the actor gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at Only Murders in the Building season six, including what appears to be a wavy auburn wig that has already started doing its own press tour.

Gomez, 33, shared a carousel documenting her time across the pond as she films the Hulu comedy with Steve Martin and Martin Short. The red-haired reveal comes near the end of the post, where Gomez is seen looking up at the camera with auburn waves framing her face.
Another clip shows her lying in bed while wearing the same hairpiece and quietly admiring the change. So yes, assume it is a wig — though on this show, a hair color can probably count as a clue until proven otherwise.
Gomez captioned the post, “Wild things happening with @onlymurdershulu while adoring london.”
The cast is filming season six across the pond
The rest of Gomez’s carousel offered a small preview of the cast’s London detour. One photo appears to show her crouching on a theater stage in a lime green gown. Another features Gomez, Martin and Short posing together on a bridge near the London Eye.
Martin has also been sharing glimpses from the shoot. In a May 30 post, he wrote, “Working with the great British actors in London is a joy!”
The “British actor” in question was a tortoise. A strong choice, honestly. How the reptile figures into the next chapter of the Hulu series is still anyone’s guess.
Why the Arconia trio is heading to London
Season five set up the move to London in its finale, when Mabel Mora, played by Gomez, Oliver Putnam, played by Short, and Charles-Haden Savage, played by Martin, listened to the true crime podcast hosted by Cinda Canning, played by Tina Fey.
On the podcast, Cinda described the case of a red-haired woman from the United Kingdom who had been accused of killing a royal heir. The twist was that the woman was Cinda herself.
The episode ended with Cinda moving through city streets with bloodied hands before collapsing in front of a building gate. She reached one hand through the bars before dying.
That gate belonged to the Arconia. Because Cinda died just inside the property, Charles, Mabel and Oliver were pulled into the mystery, giving the show a tidy, grim reason to send its amateur investigators to London to dig into Cinda’s past.
The show’s future still depends on the mystery working
There is no release date yet for season six of Only Murders in the Building. Still, the show’s central trio has said they are open to continuing as long as the series keeps meeting its own standard.
In September, Martin told E! News, “As long as we feel that the quality is what it is presently, I think we’ll always wanna do it.”
For now, season six has London, a royal-adjacent murder case, Cinda Canning’s bloody exit and Gomez in red hair. For a series built on theatrical chaos and very inconvenient deaths, that is plenty to work with.
